All open world games should be installed on SSD. Game by itself doesn't cause data corruption. Hard drive is the bottleneck of every modern PC. You can't expect it to last if it's constantly working overtime to keep up with the demand. Weak or low quality components fail. That's just how the cookie crumbles.Originally Posted by jpenneyfromdus Go to original post
As Venomgun1 explained. Hard drives will always fail. It is just a matter of when it will. Same as SSDs and M.2 as well. They all have their limits. I have an older 2TB with bad sectors and it is starting to fail. But it is time to upgrade to another one. I will buy a bigger one for backup and keep on trucking. I keep a mechanical for backups though. Since SSDs are so cheap it is a decent upgrade now. I keep a few small ones for a few games now. And one for a scratch drive.
Remember to back it up if you have important stuff on it. We have all been through it. I hate to hear it but maybe check the date and see how old it is. Might still be under warranty and get a replacement. Good luck and keep us posted.
