Well, that is/was a very big artist! At least in Europe, but I think they made it worldwide... If we hadn't one week of DLC left, I'd say this is the big-end-of-the-year-surprise-DLC. Now I'm really curious what Ubi will bring next week to top that! ABBA II maybe?
Really happy about ABBA. Thank you!
Very nice! My wife is a huge Mama Mia 1 & 2 (movie) fan... I watched the first with the 'ABBA, really?' perspective going in, came out with 'dang...some of their songs really rock'
Waterloo would be lots of fun. Take a Chance On Me would be my 2nd choice to fill out the 3 pack.... but there are definitely several songs I'd throw in a bigger pack.
I can only hope for The Winner Takes it All
or Chiquitita!
My mom wore out these 45's when I was a teen. I would play them on my acoustic. Oh, the memories!
And as soon as you think these songs are simple pop songs, you will find out just how complex the arrangements are. It's not just the way that the instruments weave in and out, but how the songs modulate from minor to major, and there are actually 2 sets of lyrics that are sung during choruses.
A beautiful bass line during the verses and the chorus of guitars that drive a song like Fernando:
That memorable Les Paul Custom in the video for SOS!
And who could blame a teenage boy for falling in love with this band after seeing them perform Waterloo?
So I am perfectly fine with you using your 4th post to make that comment, but here are some things to consider if you haven't already done so:Originally Posted by OldRiffJunkie Go to original post
1) It is not only plausible, but likely that there are people that think your favorite band or musician is a joke, but have enough tact and class to not share that opinion in such a crass way.
2) It is also likely that among the musicians that you admire the most, there is at least one of your musical heroes that really likes or admires ABBA.
