@Gaser. I wouldn't say bland and there's nothing wrong with being optimistic, I just don't foresee a rework for Shino coming any time soon, maybe fall of 2020, as you know Ubi also likes to wait forever to actually rework anyone lol.
TL;DR - Class standardization yes, global standardization bad.
As far as standardization goes, certain things like feat damage/buff/duration, revive speed, and healthpool/ basic movements by class could be standardized. For example, imagine if every Hero had Class Standard Healthpool.
Assassin: 125 or 130 HP (Just a +5 bump if they gain mobility back, or a +10 bump if they don't, because we all know Reflex guard sucks.)
Vanguard: 140 HP (It's the middle ground, the all-rounders. Raider has 140 currently, Kensei has 125, Warden has 130, Tiandi has 130.)
Heavy: 155 HP (They're supposed to be tanks that can trade and not mobile as everyone else.)
Vanguard/Heavy Hybrid: 145 HP (5 more than a vanguard 10 less than a true heavy to compensate for increased attack speeds and mobility.)
Vanguard/Assassin Hybrid:135 HP (Directly in between an Assassin and a Vanguard, just a bit faster and a little bit squishier than a Vanguard.)
It would take away from strategy and mix-up potential for each character when attack speeds are standardized and made to be even for everyone across the board. Maybe a pseudo-standardization with +/- 50-75ms variances to basic attack/defense/action speeds could help meet the global standards the devs want and still keep each hero a bit unique? It would really have to fall in line with class specification though.
Let's take HL as an example, he's a Vanguard/Heavy Hybrid... With only 125 HP... That's far below the Viking's Vanguard and Heavy HP; Raider at 140 HP and Warlord at 140 HP. Both Warlord and HL should have more HP than Raider, with HL having less than Warlord if they standardized the classes.
I could do a whole theoretical write up of attack, defense, and movement speeds for each class and try to keep it fair for everyone, but that's a lot of typing and I'm pretty sure you see where I'm getting at lol.
I find UBI has raped and mutilated the Shinobi. And this is unforgivable. The more so that the only official reason for this is that the poor heavyweights in the game couldn't catch the guy (which is a lie, of course). In a nutshell, the changes have been made NOT for the Shinobi himself but for the other characters - how can you call this improving?! There are many things about the new Shinobi I find unreasonable but most of all, the backflip has become pointless. Why would a Shinobi use a backflip if it wouldn't get him away from the enemy? Besides, in the Warrior's Den productions on Twitch, the devs have consistently emphasized that they always start from the weapon when developing a characters. The new, "improved" Shinobi , however, is forced to fight like a regular heavyweight, which renders his long range weapon pointless. It only shows that whoever came up with the changes has no idea what the Shinobi is about. Shame on you!
