Agreed. You've got some solid ideas. I actually think making it so that medics are the only class that can improve your injury level would be awesome. The classes need to matter if they're going to go that route. Snipers could get accuracy bonuses at long range, as well as a stealth bonus while prone, and assault could be able to carry extra ammo and grenades. Panther...meh. Engineer could have been the fourth class, with bonus explosives damage, and the ability to repair vehicles and create small fortifications for defensive missions.
Assault... Yeah he's the guy who is going to have the the side plates in just in case, and be ready to go through the door. More than carrying more ammo, I'd just be happy with armor increases and accuracy/speed with ASR increases.
Panther- definitely the stealth class. I don't think I've ever come across a spec ops unit that didn't have that one guy who could move through seemingly anything without making a noise. I'm sure that not every combat team had one like that, but that is the way it seemed to me. I had heard stories of guys like that from my Vietnam vet relatives. First one I met was a scoutmaster when I was in the Boy Scout, he was LRRP in the Army in Vietnam. That guy could come up behind through a field of dry leave and crackly twigs, and you wouldn't know he was there until he tapped you on the shoulder. That's the Panther class in my opinion. They are going in light and fast and quiet.
Medic- Should be the one that can restore lost health(again aside from using consumables), have speed bonuses on getting up the fallen, ect.
Engineers- Hmmm... I like your ideas there. I would also give them breaching charges as a class item. So that you could stack closer on doors than you currently can for explosive breach. Just my opinion.
