Staff Picks - November 29

Greetings Riders,
The weekend is almost upon us, soon will be able to kick back, relax and play some Trials Rising. In the meantime though, let's see what's on the Track Central creations have stood out for Shogun and myself this week!
Shogun's Picks

Name: NKP – Metal Ball
Creator: PanchYPanda
Mode: Skill Game
Difficulty: Medium
Lately I’ve been all about the skill games. Both in my own builds and when playing TC I love to see what new and different things that can be done in the editor. PanchYPanda is quickly starting to stand out as one of the best skill game builders around. Last week MrDrPink highlighted NKP – Super Ninja Boy, an incredible platformer. This week I was very impressed with the deceptively simple Metal Ball. This seems like a pretty basic 1 on 1 football style game reminiscent of classic games like Pong but there is some serious craftsmanship going on under the hood of the this build. The gameplay is very fast and pretty smooth which is something that isn’t necessarily easy to do in the editor. Being a 2 player game it also gives the option to play together locally with a friend or compete against an AI opponent. That’s pretty impressive but what really made my jaw hit the floor was the built in replay system. After each goal there is a slo-mo replay so you can bask in the glory of your sick skills. I have some guesses but I’m still not sure exactly how it works. One thing is for sure, it’s all custom, that’s not something the game can just do on it’s own.

Name: Zak’s Sightseeing Tour
Creator: AlexInRage
Mode: Skill Game
Difficulty: Medium
This is another Skill Game that looks very simple but is impressive in its execution. The set-up is simple, Follow around Zak who is taking you on a scenic sightseeing tour around the Trials Rising baseworld. All you have to do is try not to blow up all the landmarks, or do because it’s literally the only thing you can do. The first thing that stood out to me were the great eyeball animations on the alien Zak. His expressions are often very amusing and really the highlight of this build. It also features a dialogue system so Zak can give you some info on each landmark and ask politely for you to not press the button that blows everything up. While it looks really simple the whole flow and presentation works super well and even though it may be more funny than fun it’s easily worth a few minutes of your next Track Central session.

Name: Concrete Trip
Creator: Tokin_N_Trialin
Mode: Trials
Difficulty: Hard
For my throwback pick of the week I’ve selected a remake/remix of Concrete Dreams from Trials HD that was released last July. It’s always fun to see players put a new spin on these classic tracks and this is the second time a Tokin_N_Trialin remix has been in my picks. The Lab Rat/Super Hot mash-up Fairly Warm reminded me a lot of that super fun line from Trials Evo and had a very unique visual style. I’m a big fan of the color pink so right away Concrete Trip is pleasing my sensibilities. I love the classic warehouse look with the added visuals that are possible with Trials Rising’s new tools. This one also has a pretty funny hidden challenge, giving it a little added replayability.
Doc's Pick

Name: Purple hills 3 (f)
Creator: Nooroo79
Mode: Trials
Difficulty: Extreme
In the Diggin with the Doc's streams, I find myself looking extreme levels that help encourage me to keep on grinding to help better my skills at Trials while not being overly punished for failing. Nooroo's tracks always seems to fit within gap, and when playing I always want to put the time in to reach the end of Nooroo's levels. Purple hills 3 (f) starts off with quite a difficult hill climb and bunny hop obstacle before you reach the first checkpoint, but stick it out and you soon be flowing through the track. It's colourful decoration and cell shaded effect is a treat on the eyes, and the technical obstacles really made me want to overcome the challenges! If you're looking to up your skill, I do recommend trying this level out!
That about wraps things up for another week! If you thing we've missed something out let us know in the thread below. Until next week, have a great weekend!

Great picks as usual! Also, Have you guys ever considered having a 'Community Highlight' pick? I know you feature Tracks, and ive seen a vid once in a blue moon, but maybe y'all could highlight a Youtube Channel, A person's Stream, or a Vid/Replay you really enjoyed. Just a thought, but it might help some folks find some new Trials Goodies (such as my YT channel
