I feel Ubisoft punishes the player for staying alive and finishing a mission or finishing several missions without any deaths.
Why do we get rewarded with free supplies after we die and respawn. What’s to stop players from simply suiciding their character to get free supplies?
-when we die we get all of our grenades, ammo, flashbangs, med kits C4 and other gadgets resupplied for free.
-if we stay alive through several mission we have to bivouac and craft or buy grenades and to buy gadgets in order to fully resupply.
This seems totally backwards. Shouldn’t we be rewarded for staying alive?
I’d suggest a “supply drop” air dropping in After every completed mission in a safe area adjacent to that mission area where we can resupply all of our grenades and gadgets for free.
When we die we should get zero resupply upon respawn until we bivouac or until we finish a mission or loot supplies. This is when we should have to spend credits or craft items in order to resupply.
Problem with that... All of the enemies respawn too. And does it fully refill or does it just return any items you used in that area? I don't think it just refills everything, but I could be wrong.
The long and short of it is... iI you use a few grenades or mines (other items) to kill some of the more problematic enemies, then die and respawn with all those enemies also respawned, but not your used items... That isn't fun.
I have been in a checkpoint death loop, with respawning enemies but not items and ammo, in another game. The checkpoint happened when I was low on health, no healing items, no reverse path away from danger, and with an elite/mini boss type enemy that notices my presence almost immediately upon reload. And this checkpoint happened after I had killed the elite enemy the first time around and was looking for health items, and somehow died a stupid death.
Trying to survive this difficult fight with almost zero health, and quickly dwindling ammo and items was frustrating, and I almost stopped playing the game in it's entirety. I somehow managed to get through the section, by a bit of luck, skill and mini miracle.
I will drop a game in an instant, even with many many hours of playtime, if I hit a game breaking bug, or some death loop like I mentioned... Rather than restarting. The old KOTOR game had such a bug at the 2/3 point, and I had meticulously done every quest available, and as a dark side focused jerk, a character choice that I have a difficult time playing, but wanted to do my second play through... 40hrs of playtime or so, and I dropped that game and never toughed it again.
Luckily, an open world game can avoid a checkpoint death loop pretty easily, so it isn't critical that items used get returned, but if it is a locked in mission, it can be frustrating to reload from a death and be low on ammo and items.
With the current system, if you can complete a mission, suicide and get your items back, and not lose mission progress... Nothing is stopping a player from doing so to their advantage.
But so what... Does it cause you harm? Are you or the game character lessened in any way by that behavior?
No... It just irritates you that someone is gaming the system for their gain. It feels like cheating to you... But still, so what. This isn't a competition in which this behavior would put you at a disadvantage in your own separate game world. It's basically the equivalent of cheating a solitaire, who cares. Play your way, the way that brings you enjoyment, and don't worry about how other people play the game, or exploit the system, in a manner that you do not approve.
If they start gaming the system to gain an unfair advantage in PVP, then feel free to come back and complain.
