i appreciate the insight to the way Cassie works.. with Snitch..
but I still dislike the entire thing.. it's confusing and annoying. Simple and plain.
I don't believe the avg player will try to memorize all these rules.
For myself.. i just play.. i don't play vid games to memorize new rules.. i have work in RL for that.
If it's not simplified..why would i bother? There are few systems and things TD2 does that I have never experienced in other games.. and I guess that is really telling on the difference in success levels of each of those games.
Anyhow.. just my opinion.. if this is how Cassie works.. so be it.. i just am expressing why I dislike it.. it's overly complex. And i am sure many other players feel this way.
i play all 4 of my agents.. and I happily farm and play the missions.. I am not going to spend my time tracking Cassie for all 4 of them.. if I can find her I will.. if not.. no big deal for me.
The other thing..
we were promised Cassie would sell exotics.. and this promise is still undelivered.
Exactly. It's like you need a timetable for when you're allowed to play this game.Originally Posted by zigMAGNA Go to original post
Want to play Kenly College? Oh well, it's not up for two weeks, lets pencil it in.
Just leveled up my third character, lets go get the Nemesis. Ok got the first part, lets now wait another 3 or 4 weeks until all the strongholds have been up . .
Feel like playing Jefferson Plaza on invaded today, really like that mission. Oh wait, it's not on invaded this week. Oh well . .
I heard the new missions (that aren't even new anymore, cuz they're from TU5) finally have a heroic difficulty, lets go try them. Really looking forward to it. Oh wait, they're now part of the time gated weekly invasions and aren't up this week . . Really good new content, not even being available to play.
Wonder what Cassie's selling today, heard she's got good stuff. 'Vendor will return in 20 hours'.
@andyrob102 is spot on. I consider myself a hard core player, and I gave up on cassie and have no desire to try to figure out how to work my gaming times and activities around this stupid schedule.
Please note, I am not aiming the criticism at the OP, and it is nice that someone is spending time trying to inform players how to use the system. But it should be the developers spending their time on this, not the players.
And if I understand correctly, this is saying that sometimes when you find the snitch and her icon appears, that isn't her current location. So in other words, the snitch has no current information on where she is -- sometimes. Very stupid.
Yet that isn't it. I find the Snitch, I have to wait for her to spawn. By the time the timer runs out, she isn't there. If I seek out the Snitch, it's another timer and wait. She never appears. To me that is an issue that needs addressed.Originally Posted by rubenalamina Go to original post
Now the funny thing is, I have played with others, that claim they find the Snitch and Poof, Cassie is exctly where she is suppose to be. So to me it seems odd that she functions as suppose to for some and yet doesn't for others.
Currently, I have a timer for just under 24 hours, I am expecting her not to be there in 24 hours. Why? Cause she never is.
This mechanic is there so we can see her timer. Whenever she is closed and if you find the snitch, the icon will be her last known location and you can see the timer to know when she will open. After the timer expires, the icon will disappear (she was moving to another location while closed) so it's necessary to find the snitch again. This time, she will be open, so her icon will be his actual location while she is open.Originally Posted by tcarlisle2012 Go to original post
It's confusing but if they want to keep the open/close cycles, I think this needs to happen, otherwise how we will know she is closed if we can't see the timer on the icon.
That's exactly what I explained. If you go find the snitch right now (she is closed) or you have the icon on the map like you said, her icon is the last known location and the timer is showing you when she will open again. If you go there, you won't find her because she is closed and on the move to a new location. She will open today in 12 hours from this comment. When that time comes, the icon will disappear as expected so she won't be there. After you find the snitch again, the icon will show you her new location and the timer (which is confusing as explained in the op, because it doesn't show when she will close if she is open) will be for her next open/available cycle in 56 hours.Originally Posted by YodaMan 3D Go to original post
I have never heard or read that she doesn't appear if she is open. Lately, there have been some instances where you go visit her and you open the inventory but can't see any items. Same happens with the thieves den vendor. If this happen you will only see no items available on the vendor screen. A relog fixes both occurrences heard that changing loadouts is another workaround.
If you can play today, follow what I mentioned and you should be able to see her inventory. If you have her icon on the map at the moment, remember that you will need to find the snitch again because the icon will disappear in 12 hours when she opens in a new location. Hope this helps.
So that means she opens at 12 am for me. I'm in bed when she arrives, I sleep for 8 hours, get up, do a days work and I'm not on until the evening, if I'm even on that day. So the vast majority of the time she's there, I've already missed. Then the rest of the time, she's 'travelling to her next location'. That explains why I can never find her.Originally Posted by rubenalamina Go to original post
That is a bad system plain and simple. People play this game from all over the world, at all different times of the day. having her at a location for only 24 hours at a time is way too short, because somebody, somewhere will always be missing out.
I'm not sure if you work on the game or not Ruben. I'm not taking it out on you btw, I just think this is an appropriate thread to share my thoughts on it. I appreciate you're just trying to explain the mechanics of it.
But it's honestly baffling at this point, that stuff like this continues to make it into and stay in the game. A tiny bit of common sense would tell you that having her at a location for 24 hours at a time was never going to be ideal for players who are playing from different time zones.
Thank you for the information. However the solutions you mentioned aren't what needs to be done. We already have to go out in search of the snitch. Simply have her available whenever you find him.
This nonsense of open closed cycle makes no sense. If she were resetting her inventory each time that would be a different story but as of now all it does is cause frustration. Her stock is barely worth looking at to begin with so I really don't get this whole mystique they are trying to create regarding the gun runner.
Furthermore and again this is no knock on you because like i said, great informative post here, but we should not need a google map to locate the snitch. His spawn locations should be identified in game so long as you found him once before in that location. They can add it to the bounty screen to avoid clutter of the regular map.
Perhaps when this game first launched these were interesting concepts. More than 6 months in they are quite silly and more of an annoyance than anything else to the point I straight up no longer even search for the snitch even after seeing posts or videos of mendoza having decent items in stock. And after reading your post i am glad i don't because it would have pissed me off even more to find her location on a relocation cycle then come back to find i need to find the snitch again when she reopens. Intelligent design to be sure
You know.. as this continues..
the thread..
the way Cassie and Snitch work... etc..
i think.. if it's a design mechanic..that a first week/first month player coming to TD2.. (whether they played TD1 or not previously..)
Would this player.. understand how this works without coming to the forums for any info?
Bc if the answer is almost over 80% .. no.
Then the design is bad.
Will we see Spring 2020 threads crop up.. with posts like:
"Hi, I am a new player to Division 2.. how come I can't find Cassie?".. or " I found Snitch..but how come Cassie is not at her shop?"..etc...
This is why I say the entire system for Cassie is overly-complex.
And even on the flip-side.. if you know how it works after experiencing it many times.. are we as a community happy about it?
We all hold different schedules.. this system/mechanic is smthg that would be great if the devs instead took feedback on.. its a prime example of something they could talk about further in SOTG and actually get a guage.. run a poll and see what the community thinks..and how it could be improved.
You know.. i spent so many years telling Blizzard what they could do to improve Diablo 3.. and now that feedback is fed right into Diablo 4..
customers will vocalize what they want.. if you keep seeing the same things over and over repeated by veteran players..and new players months later.. none of whom .. know or met eachother..then you know generally what your customers want..bc its repeated so often..
Like on twitter.. all that is always said past month:
survival
resistance
last stand
fix dz
ban cheaters..
and we will see more threads about Cassie i am sure.
It's kind of a common theme.
