Check your nVidia driver settings. A small but powerful freeware program called Riva Tuner will give you control over Fastwrites and almost every other graphics car function. Check Guru3D for the link.

I have a gigabyte 875p mainboard, it's not apparent within the bios where fastwrites are and i don't know how to check any other way.
Help appreciated

Next time when you boot up, enter the bios and hit Shift + 1 or Ctrl + 1 or something. lol
I have the GA-7VAX gigabyte and it adds the advanced chipset thingy. You should see your screen flicker when it happens.
Thanks guys, but i just found out my computer is running without chipset drivers...
Someone just told me after my system was reinstall ed they never installed the chipset drivers because they corrupted the system and the pc wouldn't boot.
and something about graphical problems on the load screen.
sounds like my motherboard is busted to me... anyone heard of this?

Have you checked out Via?

They should have your chipset driver.

Please post your dxdiag readout here - this will enable us to find out what is missing and where to find it. It's very unlikely that you will get the results you need from your hardware using only the default Windows' drivers.
Click Start/ Run - type dxdiag in the Open: space and click OK.
Let the program run until the progress bar is finished, then click Save All Information.
Save the .txt file to Desktop and close the GUI.
To post it here....open the file. Go to Edit/ Select All...then copy & paste it in your reply.
Also try Everest to identify your chipset if at all unsure.
Fastwrites generally are on by default, so you would not need to make a trip to the bios.
However as has been mentioned above you may need a key combination to access the relevant bios section (a trawl through through the 'user fixes section' reveals this post that will help![]()
