    Survival Mechanics and Gear Ideas

    I have thought about some changes that might improve the overall Survival experience as well as how Gear items affect the player:

    Some more ideas came to mind while I was playing but I am just throwing some big ones out there for people to see and share their thoughts on.

    1.Custom Game mechanics: Every aspect of the new survival mechanics should be customizable i.e. how fast stamina decreases, how likely your are going to get injured, injuries can only be healed at bivouacs and take time to heal. More on that, injuries should players cause to bleed out if not bandaged in the field. However, the injury stays until properly treated at a bivouac. Theses are just examples and general thoughts that come to mind. Some games in the past like Thief for example gave the player freedom of choice in terms of difficulty settings in game. I think this should fit well with Ubisoft's stance on freedom of choice for Breakpoint.

    2.Gear Item mechanics: The Gear level system, as many agree, feels out of place in this game. However, I believe that with a bit of tweaking and some changes it can be turned around for the better. I like the idea of gear "quality" and the bonuses they provide, BUT those bonuses should be gear specific so it will give players more incentive to farm for a particular piece of gear. For example: The Blackhawk STRIKE with shoulder pads should offer more protection than a Drone Operator Harness. This again could tie in the stamina system. Wearing heavy armour would decrease your stamina faster and also slow the movement speed, maybe even affect handling of weapons. Carrt capacity for items should be determined by your backpack. Wear a 5.11 All Hazards backpack you can carry significantly more items than if your wear a Camelbak, but the camel back would give you bonuses on stamina by staying hydrated.

    These are some quick ideas and thoughts. Some might not be well thought out but I just wanted to brainstorm on some of theses and throw them out there.

    I really like the gear mechanic. I had suggested that for GRW 2, but I think that people at Ubisoft overlooked that aspect because it would address the expectations of a small fringe of it's customers and not the majority. That said, it would be so awesome.

    If you have time and a couple of friends to play Wildlands with. I have tested it extensively and it seems to work pretty well and gives the game a whole new feel.
