One very easy fix would be to change Rebellion's Edge from being an Aguilar exclusive to being open to all Shadow Assassins. This would take the stress off the Ritualistic Xiphos and only be open to legendary characters that need an upgrade, Altair and Darius.

I like your suggestion, although I don't agree to it. Surely, it goes into the right direction:
    - New items sooner or later, less limitations right now!
    - Common T5 items before personal ones!
But making a common weapon of the Rebellion's Edge would take away the entire sence of it. Keep in mind, ACR is still focussed on the spanish brotherhood during the age of inquisition. Aguilar's sword is supposed to keep his role as the leader, especially within the growing number of legendary characters.
Speaking about the greek weapons, I just considered them as an insufficient solution. But I agree, you can take them as a problem on their own, as well.
    After all, that you Jeff.

Where does it say Aguilar is the leader? In his in game bio, the first sentence says, "Aguilar de Nerha was a member of the spanish Brotherhood of Assassins." It ends with "and he eventually became the new Mentor of the Spanish Brotherhood."

The description of the sword says, "the Rebellion's Edge is a deadly sword for he who would cease a great wrong in history." So making this a common item, to me does not dilute anything since there is nothing to dilute. Altair and Darius certainly could cease a great wrong in history as easily as Aguilar. And if he is the leader then he should be legendary. He is currently outclassed by over half the characters.

The thing I do like about the greek weapons though is I can equip them in characters that arent 5*, only Edward Kenway and Blackbeard lol

Why Aguilar is the leader of the spanish rebellion... (who else?)
Because he is the main protagonist of the story (and the movie)? Because it was his decision where to build up the brotherhood's headquarter? Because it is his portrait on the icon of the app? Because he and María are the only two spanish heroes in this game who have already appeared before?
Where was Altaïr during the Spanish Inquisition? Dead. Where was Dareios during that time? Dead. It is rather an accommodation to put them in, anyway, even if not as part of the main story. That's why Aguilar and his sword are supposed to be unique.
Altaïr will get his own personal sword, sooner or later, we all voted him to be the next. The Xiphos, at least its skin, is ok for Dareios and Kassandra. There are many heroes, exspecially swordsmen, whose weapons absolutely need an optic adaption. But at first, everyone should have a T5 sword available, which you can forge of standard materials (steel, gold, gems).

But he is also only a rare character making him essentially unplayable in any helix events. Those events have taken this game from taking place in the Spanish Inquisition existing outside of time and space. Darius is alive. Altair is alive. They are chilling in my brotherhood with less than adequate swords.

For me I dont care what materials a weapon is made with. They are all farmable. But the sword is completely wasted on Aguilar as long as he is a rare character. This is way out of the purview of this thread, but characters such as Altair, Aguilar, and main characters from the franchise should have their own higher tier than what currently exists. But as it stands the dev's release updates so infrequently that opening rebellions edge could be done next week without any issue. Creating a single new weapon though, well that hasn't happened since the Xiphos

Yes, it has. Since they introduced 5* gear, when region 5 was set free for this game, Torturous Hammer (DPS) and Stoic Chainmail (tank) were added afterwards. This by the way. Going on like that will take too long, of course.
As you said, we shouldn't distract from the weapon matter by arguing about Aguilar. Whether he deserves a personal sword or not, you should have an alternative weapon available for him. And this is what I dislike the T5 item system for: no choice! From T1-4 we could choose at least between 2 items of each. Coat or hood? Master Poignard or Cinquedea? With T5 we shall be even happy, if there is one, at all. :-P
No question, all ressources needed for items must be gettable by farming loot missions daily.
I know, you want a legendary sword for Altair and Dareios. But please be patient and let them all get a common 5* weapon, at first. Not all players can afford legendary ones for all heroes at once.
So how would you like if you could forge the Silent Falchion or Hasty Rapier with replacing the obsidian/coral by a jet gem and turn its dexterity/agility bonus into lethality?

I see what you mean but there is a big perk to them being class specific, class bonuses. You only see this in a portion of the weapons, but getting an extra assination or heal is huge, and would be wasted on other characters

Right, so the additional skill of 5* items should be variable by the gems, too. However, I'd let everyone decide on his own, what is a waste for his characters.

    Update

As we now have seen, which new items V 2.9 will contain, it's time to check the ones still missing.
(Swords will follow in the next reply.)

    1. Short Blade/Stealth (Luis)
Luis is a pickpocket, no warrior or murderer. So I think he needs a knife, no unhandy short sword, that is absolutely inapropriate to cut pouches off.
    2. Short Blade/Support (Al Mualim)
    legendary weapon
    3. Hammer/Navigation (Alonso)
My absolute favorite for a pirate is a club - as also recommended by Mr. Hurley und die Pulveraffen: "Knüppel uff'n Kopp! Knüppel uff'n Kopp! He Ho, Knüppel uff'n Kopp!" ("club on the head")
    4. Hammer/Healing (Aleksei)
Pernarch or morning star, please, no toolish hammer!
    5. Polearm/Assassin (Sayyid)
The Vizier's eye is just for Ishak. My suggestion for Sayyid is a spear. It looks the most standard-like.
    6. Polearm/DPS (Kensa)
Kensa's standard weapon, a nubian spear, is very exotic and should be legendary.
    7. Hidden Blades/Stealth (Máximo)
Like Mateo, Máximo was actually trained as a killer. Unfortunately his sneaking skill was even better, so he was excluded from the assassin class and can't use the same gear any more.
    8. Heavy Armour/Assassin (Ishak)
    legendary armour
    9. Medium armour/Stealth (Máximo)
    see 7.
    10. Heavy armour/Navigation
    Lol
