Option selects and where the fight team stands.

Where does the fight team stand on option selects? Do they like them? Are they intended? Do they intend to fix the issue?

I'm not sure if there are any other option selects besides the zone option select, but if they do intend on removing them wouldn't they have to universally put gb vulnerability on all the zones?

Can I get an answer here? I need to know if I should start using and learn to rely on them since majority of the community does if it's actually an intended feature, but at the same time it's really hard for me to be gay on reaction so I don't know if I'll ever be able to pull one off.

To answer your specific question the only option selects they've taken a stance against are low GB vulnerability fast heavies and charge based option selects.
Stephan? has said he doesn't like low GB heavies and that he also doesn't like charge based option selects. The recent centurion changes have an attempt to deal with charge based ones.
They've never said anything about zone option selecting as far as I know. But they have gone out of their way to make sure said moves are not GBable on reaction. The only one that was ever nerfed IIRC was glads because it used to have 0MS vulnerability.

And just to be informational option selecting isn't specific to zones. it's any action you can do that protects and allows you to punish an opponents attempted mix up. It's absolutely something you should have been learning how to do already.

I never did try to learn them because it doesn't feel like it is intended. I figured they'd patch them out one day and if that's all I rely on like most people then I'm really going to suffer the consequences for using low skill tactics. I've always figured it was better to learn how to deal with a mix up rather than using a cure all. However it seems like everyone has come to use this tactic and it's not something I consider skillful. At least with the zone option select anyway. Sure, you can bait it out, but once your opponent sees that you're baiting it out, then more times than not it just ends up neutralising the mix up and setting both players back to neutral which is stupid. In my opinion they just need to make zone attacks vulnerable to gb on start up.

Its where instead of countering a gaurdbreak you do something like tiandis palm strike or a zone or a bash, even a light.

These guys are more specifically talking about like parrying with a zone attack instead of a heavy. Basically if a raider does his side heavy and you parry it with a zone you will either parry or hit him. You will hit him because if he tries to soft feint into a GB or Tap your zone will hit him first. But because a zone requires a heavy input it will parry an attack instead of doing a zone. This is counter-able for the raider but its easier said than done.

Tiandis palm strike is a really good option select [or it used to be]. If someone throws a heavy out you can just palm strike for free light. If you see someone try to GB then you palm strike and it interrupts their GB and you get a free light.

But essentially if a character has a quick attack with low GB vulnerability it can be used on people trying to gaurdbreak your free damage. Parrying with zones is just one form of an option select. There are other ways with other characters to interrupt attacks and give you free damage.

Edit: I used raider for an example. You can cheese any heros chains or mixups with option select moves

I don't mind option selects. It's just another tool in the kit. Like any other thing in this game it can get countered if you overuse it

the only option select I have a problem with is the zone. Pressing the zone input shouldn't register as a parry. This would mean that if you want to throw a zone to beat a gb then you do so without being able to parry the attack attack if it wasn't feinted.

option selects are bad... they basically allow you to rule out two (potential) plays by the opponent with one move
