Funny that you classify giving it due diligence by actively seeking out the information, unsuccessfully I might add, as an assumption. Where I come from, we define an assumption as making a conclusion with any evidence to back it up. I was not making any conclusion, and I had already done all the evidence gathering available to me. Turns out, at some point late last night, my game installed an update that finally added this information to the in-game news, which was the first mention I saw of this outside of this thread. You would expect this sort of information to come from the devs before it pops up in a separate thread commenting about it. When I followed the link to the page you posted above, that was the first time I'd even seen that page, so not one that would be on my list of places to check for official information from the devs.

I am outraged by RL determination to disqualify my team Revolucion 2.0 with our 5699 score. I fail to see how we are not in compliance with the tournament rules. I have read the entire competition rules and fail to see any valid grounds where our disqualification would be justified. All teams recruited for the tournament as we did, all teams asked for top players as we did, we did not create a new team, played fair and square and never colluded with any other teams to have unfair advantages as some people suggested other top 10 teams did. We are a group of good players that decided we wanted to try to win the tournament and invited other strong players that shared our interest. I fail to see how recruiting the best players available to win a tournament is anything different than what F2P Whales did and yet they are leading the board of the competition with a lower result than ours. There is nothing wrong with you trying to give something to the players that have dedicated the most time and money to the game, but please don't do fixed tournaments to "justify" giving them this goodies. We ask for you to kindly validate our participation on the tournament and our score from last weekend, we are all members of "South Park: Phone Destroyer Latino" Facebook group with over 10,000 members and we are getting the entire support of this community. We may not spend as much money as the Whales do, but we do in fact spend. Please show the community that even the little guy stands a chance if they get together and play hard ,they stand a chance to beat the Top teams!
