Gun Jamming Should be in the game

Gun Jamming should be a feature in the game to further add to the immersion and use of bivouac and weapon tier upgrades.

Bivouacs should serve as a gun cleaning zone

Tier upgrades should reduce gun jamming percentages

Guns should now have realistic gun jamming animation and percentages based on their real life counter part such as:

Ak-47 should have least jamming percentage right now the gun is pointless.

Pistols should be less affected making them more useful or add a revolver

Prone camo, prone stance and rolling and essentially getting your gun dirty should jam your gun.

Player should have a feature to unjam gun temporarily with animation or add gun cleaning process.

Agree with this! Makes sense and tbh I feel all shooters not just breakpoint should have this! I think the only game Iv experiences it in was America’s Army on PC where the weapon jammed and you had to push a button to clear the jam and reset!
Also like the idea of cleaning in the bivouac and could even add another layer with once you have fired a few 1000 rounds through it you have to replace parts, etc

I don't agree. Forcing you to clean your gun just becomes a "remember to push this button to win" mechanic, which is annoying. I think that we can just assume that a SOF operator keeps his weaponry maintained and move on.

Also-- Ah! The Cult of the AK strikes again! See:

The AK is a reliable and effective weapon, but it absolutely does not deserve it's cult status as some sort of miraculous widget that never fails. Likewise, the M16 family does not deserve it's internet status as a POS- it definitely had teething problems when it was new, but now it is a mature and reliable weapon as well. It just had different design goals than the AK, and I personally would prefer the M16 over the AK any day- and not just because I can disassemble and reassemble one blindfolded.

And, admittedly, the methodology of those videos sort of plays to the M16's strengths and the AK's weaknesses. (Once soiled bady enough the AK can be put back into action with a garden hose whereas the M16 would need detailed cleaning- ARs do not tolerate neglect, whereas AKs do.) But they are strengths and weaknesses- the AK is not miraculous. If that doesn't convince you here is a mud test by a guy who builds and sells AKs and thus has an interest in the AK looking good.

Incidentally, both InRangeTV and Forgotten Weapons are excellent YouTube channels for gun stuff, as such things go- they are restrained and academic rather than hairy-chested idiocy, despite both guys lacking a military background. And who doesn't love Gun Jesus?!? Here's further AR testing.

I agree. Nomad let's his gun get so caked in mud and the dust cover is always open exposing the bolt carrier. Even in the biv his weapon is caked in thick layers of mud. No soldier is going to let their weapon ever get that bad and not clean it.
Don't add a clean weapon option. Just a quick double tap on reload so the character can clear the malfunction.

Jamming function seems like a good/fun idea, but I would not go the way of % chance to get jammed for each weapon. I would rather see Gears of war style "quick reload" mechanic, where when you initiate reloading, it behaves like in Breakpoint, but you have an option to hit the sweet spot. If you hit it, reload animation is quicker, but if you miss it, bullet will be stucked in a chamber and the animation is way slower

Glad you posted those InRange TV videos. The AR-15/M16 platform is a lot more reliable than it's detractors suggest. The AK is also a lot more accurate than it's detractors suggest. You beat me to the mud test links, but here's some related documentation/reading.:

Gun jamming? No! Nomad is a top shelf operator who will clean his weapons religiously, because he trained that way his entire career, and his life depends on them.

Thank you for sharing that, but isn't the point of a game "push to win". I mean pushing the analog button forward is moving out of fire to win, reload button, everything about a game is "push to win". I think character care is what you're calling annoying where the player constantly undergoes chores to win the game like the games current injury and water system. Those mechanics don't really work because they're half baked in the game to cater to a larger less hardcore audience. However with the promise of a more unforgiving version of the game that might come as "Ghost Mode" I think this could feature could add a more dynamic gun fight. As a tactical sandbox the players choices should matter including if they decide to go crawling in mud the player should have consequence (not in terms of mud rashes and infections, but gun play).

P.S: AK-47 was an example, I am not apart of any cult nor do I have any experience with guns. Just using popular belief as an example to get my point across and sharing my ideas of how to make the game a bit more dynamic.

I like it the replacing of parts would make use of the massive amount of metal parts I've been hoarding in the game
