Welcome to the Official Answers to the Community thread!
When questions from the Ask the Developers thread are answered, they will be posted here as often as possible. Thank you!
UPDATE: 2/9/10
1. Is there any way to delete or opt to not have an exercise in the routine? I can't do a push up or a side plank to save my life! And I'm wasting precious time waiting for the exercise to be over.
The game does not allow you to skip individual exercises. However, if you’re having trouble with a particular exercise you can check the tutorial or adjust the move to meet your needs. For example, you can keep your knees on the ground while you do the push-up and build your way up to a full push-up. Another idea is to substitute another exercise (like jumping jacks or sit-ups) so that you aren’t wasting your time.
2. When I select free weights to add to my routine...there is never a time when the game prompts me to use my weights for the exercise. Am I supposed to just decide when I should use the weights or not?
If you select free weights, Jenny should add them to your routine. If that’s not happening for you, I recommend that you pick them up whenever she’s doing arm exercises. Sometimes, even if Jenny isn’t using them, there’s an icon at the bottom of the screen (where it shows you what exercise is coming up) indicating that this is an exercise where your equipment should be used.
3. What’s the difference between burn, tone, and strength?
Burn indicates a cardio focus. Tone combines cardio with strength training. Strength focuses on building muscle. All three will begin with a warm-up and follow healthy guidelines to ensure you are receiving a safe and effective workout.
4. Re: CODES
(1) what is/are the code(s) for the section that is inaccessible;
There is one code to unlock the extra challenges. It is: OYNNEJ. This code can be used at anytime and does not expire.
5. When doing certain moves, esp. in Yoga, you can't have your eyes glued to the TV. How can one tell when "Jenny" is getting up or changing positions when one is lying flat on the floor (or bent over like a pretzel)? It would be nice to have "Jenny" say something like: "OK, now let's get back up with arms out to the side and keep your back straight..." Forget the tutorial; I may know how to do the move, but I don't know how long I'm supposed to hold a pose. Thank you.
Good suggestion. We will take into account for future titles. Thank you!
6. When doing supermans, swims etc, something that lets you know when to change sides, maybe a tone or beep
Another great suggestion! We will take this into consideration for future titles. Thanks! (Chris is this PR safe)
7. I been trying to use my equipment, I pick them from the workout, but they never show in the workout. What can I do to use the equipment, such the stability ball, weights and steps? I really want to use them, but they never show.
Note: This is the same as question 2
UPDATE: 1/29/10
1. Is there a way to modify rest periods or eliminate them altogether! Is there a more comprehensive user manual available?
The rest period is an important part of the workout. When we were creating the exercises with the help of fitness experts, it was important that we include small breaks as a part of your routine. During any exercise, your heart rate becomes elevated and needs to rest periodically. The breaks have been designed to truly create a safe fitness program, and are hopefully not TOO distracting. Perhaps you could extend the overall length of your workout periods if you feel like you need to sweat a bit more? Hope that helps!
2. I have a question regarding the profile setup. I’m confused about pretty much everything about it. It never asked me to enter my goal weight or how many weeks I had to reach my goal. When I go through my profile it says my preferred type is cardio, but I never selected that and I can’t figure out how to change that. And as far as selecting the parts of the body I want to work on as a long term goal, can I only select one? I’d like to improve pretty much everywhere, but in different ways. I did go through and select each part and how I wanted to improve each, but it doesn’t seem like it worked and only saved my last selection. Can I really only select one goal at a time? I thought this was going to design a program for me based on what I wanted to improve on everywhere not just one zone at a time.
Great questions! Regarding your goal weight -- you can enter your target weight if you select “goal weight” as one of your long term goals (you can select this during profile set-up); the game will then build a comprehensive program targeting weight loss. Selecting “weight loss” as a short term objective may give you a good cardio workout for a session or two, but would not be as focused as if you had selected it as a long term goal.
Unfortunately, the game does not support multiple body part selections – you will need to select a specific area of focus each time (though the program itself will all be designed around your selected long term goal).
