I don't think that was Ubisofts initial plan. I could be wrong.

If you want to phrase it like that, I expect year 2 to stop giving free cosmetics. All the promised content would be delivered by then and no more reason to reimburse players.

I wish them good luck with that.

I personally don't think money is the sole motivation though. I could theoretically see security advantages to having the game on controlled servers. There are also definite drawbacks though.
Ohh sh**t i misunderstood your question!
I think there is more money in a bigger span of time in LSG than Just putting out games and dlc afterwards.
Security reasons yeah i would agree that there will be more security or quicker punishment of cheaters in a LSG than a normal game but the drawback is the lag and latency and the cost of maintaining said servers
One thing i really liked about the LSG is that i was hacked once and my acc stolen by someone in Asia, when i contacted the support team i offered a complete scan of the pc as to i did not play the game from there and ofc the logs they said i did not need to do anything they already know it was open in Asia (i tracked this myself first they just confirmed it ) so i did not do sh***t and got my account undbaned and got my acc back that rocks,I wish they were to understand the kinks of servers communicating to each other more efficiently.

Once again i misunderstood your question sorry for that, for a second i thought you were for micro transactions lol.

Yet, it may be part of their plan. They sell us a 1 year plan, by the 2nd year they start selling items. Micro transactions, DLCs, etc. YouTubers advertise for a year, players play for a year. We invest our time, by year 2 we have invested a lot of time, but it becomes stale. They offer new content, those who are die hard players breakout the ol' credit card and we play on. We then tell our friends, "Hey look Ubi/Massive spent a year fixing the game and now they released new content. Players hoping for the best spend more money. Players spend even more money and instead of completely building a new game, they are doing nothing but a little maintenance and a few updates that they already had planned, so time spent is minimal. They can be working on new games as their resources become available.

    Year 2+ content.

But then you knew this, surely, so why the thread?

Or did you think Year 2 content would be free?

And no, providing micro-transactions hardly qualifies the game as a game providing content on a continuing revenue model. Said content is, as said, Year 2+. Microtranscations in TD2 are merely a portal for those of us that don’t mind ‘donating’ to the Dev Beer and Biltong Fund.

In my mind I automatically link live service with recurrent player spending.
Might not be true in all cases but seems to be mostly true with the big AAA live services.

My instinct is that Division is a live service game is largely for monetisation.

I've come to the conclusion that "live service game" is a description of network architecture. What are the benefits to using servers versus offline and peer to peer?

    ROFL

    Your conclusion is horribly wrong.

I’m sure Wikipedia might help your cause or at the very least get you pointed in the right direction.
