Friendly reminder that this would all be resolved if they just made it so that players selected pre-set gear/weapons/stats before going into each normalized DZ within a set range so nobody has to worry about build/cheese/meta - just aim right, move right, and enjoy the endless battles. Collect your loot for ODZ or PVE use.

In my opinion, people who claim to be elite at pvp in this game are extremely misguided. It takes zero skill whatsoever to pvp in this game. The build is what matters, not the thumb skills.

I had an idea for a new DZ area, possible new map addition. The DZ should be bare bones with no skills or special gear/weapons. Everyone who enters the DZ should be given the same equipment and on top of contaminated items received from landmarks and open world bosses, you get medkits, medicine and ammo only. Maybe make DZ specific currency thats used to repair gear and weapons which periodically get damaged throughout time spent in the DZ.

For example, you are given a certain armor attribute and once armor is destroyed, all you have left to rely on is health. Armor can be repaired by spending that special currency or by trading in post dismantled gear (cloth, fiber, etc.).

Weapons can fired upon and take damage as well as abusing or overusing them. They also can be repaired via the same methods mentioned above for gear repair.

Bonus currency could be given to players who assist in completing tasks and healing players not in their group(s).
Rogues will lose more DZ currency if killed and gain extra medkits after killing non-rogues. Manhunt completions will earn significant rewards. Make manhunts have level increases with special, exclusive rewards attained after each level completion. Killing manhunt rewards will work the same way as if being on manhunt.

Along with regualr loot boxes, add medicine. Make animals in the DZ infected and they can attack you as well. Stepping in pools of water or coming into contact with natural surface water starts to contaminate you. Standing in foliage for periods of time can contaminate you.

Add environmental effects such as thunderstorms, snowstorms, etc. based upon the actual time of year in real life.

The more time spent in the DZ, you level up your mask. Everyone would have to wear a Hazmat suit as well which could be leveled up. Both of which reduce the amount of meds you need to take and the frequency you need to take them.

Make an Incursion which 4 to 8 players could play which would earn an exclusive max level mask and Hazmat suit where you would not need to administer meds at all plus only drops every single piece exotic gear from the boss. Yes, matchmaking would be included! This incursion would be tactical based and would require precise teamwork to complete as the bare bones gear wouldn't be enough to dps check. Add a feature where you were equipped with restraining devices to capture the NPCs and render them useless if killing them isn't an option and earn extra rewards for captures. You can also be captured by the NPCs and players earn extra rewards for freeing teammates.

Make the boss a super Hunter who uses special camouflaged gear like the Predator and shooting his mask off disables his cammo. He or She would be equipped with dual akimbo pistols and he releases killer dogs that hunt you down based on the movement and sound you make. Earn a new hunter mask, hunter clothing, hunter cammo and hunter backpack trophy and commendation patch upon killing it.

You, Me, some other folks, and MarcoStyle were alluding to this idea. It would work for normalized DZs. They'd end up so full of players the devs would be forced to expand the areas.

Kind of takes the whole "loot" out of the shooter... I am honestly mostly pleased about the this patch. WHile some ppl have reverted back to some older builds... that's mostly because the same talents that were good are still good. And ppl will build around what works best.

Not at all: all the loot can be used in the Open World or in the Occupied Dark Zones (heck, I would even be okay with them making more Occupied DZs for this purpose).

Loot is always fine. Whats not fine is this tired repeated meta of gatekeeping DZs not because people dont wanna PvP, but because they didn't run a mission 50 times in a row to get some particular god roll item or do some absolute min max meta tier thing. Too many issues of people risking the DZ and only getting dropped (with no or few kills) because to a computer, your gun/build cannot defeat X gun/build under any mathematical circumstance minus the opposing player not shooting at you.

Surely none of the real PvPers would be upset about more players going into the DZs to PvP, even if there was a pre-selected set available, right? Right?

    This.

Again though, only for normalized DZs. If its an unoccupied DZ, no pre-sets, etc.
