It's getting close to 4.5 months of no PC Servers. And this is a known issue. I suppose I'll present more as to why this situation is just incredibly neglectful.
Here we have the main feature selling points of the game seen on the Rayman Legends main website. One of those key features being the Online Challenges Mode. Granted, this page is not just advertising the PC version, and the servers for other platforms are indeed working fine. But the PC version is still mentioned in the listed of supported platforms, but there's no note of any kind indicating that the servers are no longer active to any degree for Rayman Legends PC.
Now, I know there is a support page (right here actually) that says the Ubisoft Servers are indeed down for PC. But I don't really consider some obscure support article to compensate for the fact that the Challenges Online Features are still being advertised to those looking to buy the game, but if they get the PC version, they are out of luck. Servers are just down. And the only way to know the servers were down is if you happened to find this obscure support article before purchasing.
It is mentioned there that the servers are disabled with the inability to confirm if they will be operational again... Basically meaning it's unknown when the servers will be back, IF they ever do. And again, the servers have been down for almost 4.5 months now. Is this really just a temporary outage, or just people at Ubisoft not being bothered to fix it? And do they consider this obscure support article to be sufficient for letting PC players know the servers are not working... even though the Online modes are still being advertised as features available for the PC?
Speaking of, here's the Steam Store Page for just the PC version of the game. Pretty much the same text as before, but text that's intended to sell JUST the PC version. The Online Challenges Mode is mentioned, but is not currently functional, and not has been for almost 4.5 months.
What I want to know is, are we going to get the servers back or not? It's been over 4 months. If yes, can we get an idea on what's being done to fix it? If not now, any plans for any future attempts to fix it? If not, can we please get rid of these selling points that the game no longer has? These aren't functional features right now, and will never be functional ever again for as long as nothing is done at Ubisoft to bring back the servers for the PC version. I just want to know if they are coming back or not. I just want closure somewhere, and not have this sense of the game just being abandoned by Ubisoft with outdated and false selling points for a game that is in fact still being sold. And if they do finally come back up, what happens if they go down again, and stay down for months for the same reason? I'd honestly argue that letting key community members of Rayman Legends have their own servers set up that they can self manage and maintain on their own (as well as moderate to keep hacked scores from appearing), but I know that is it's own can of worms and I understand if that doesn't want to be considered. I mainly just want to know what is to come of the PC servers, and why it feels like it's being abandoned rather than actually being closed down officially.
Some time ago, two years or thereabouts basically the same thing happened. The PC server for RL went down and it took 3-4 weeks or something to get them back up.
That time someone from the PC player community figured out a way to connect to the server by basically rolling back to an older version of the Uplay launcher and preventing it from autoupdating. I think it was Leila Nightfury that came up with it, also Kitty Suave made a video of it i think (don´t remember dates and details excactly gonna play the old age card).
I´m a hardware guy not a software guy, but at the heart of it there was something with how the game connects to the server, and how it authenticates.
Both back then and this last fall when the game quit working in the very same manner (except this time the Uplay client has been updated so it isn´t possible to rollback it) it coincided with a major Ubisoft title launch. It was some Assasains creed title way back and the new awful Ghost Reacon breakpoint title this time.
I suspect Ubi shuffles servers around to make room for new titles and by sheer incompetence breaks older smaller titles.
It´s pretty much the same with the rampant cheating on the PC platform; If you ask Ubi there is no way to get rid of the cheaters, but then when Ubi-Maya became admin she had no problem fixing and banning the cheaters.
So unless we get Ubi-Maya or someone with her skills/dedication back Rayman is probably tossed aside like an eaten applecore.

I decided to make a video that kind of goes over my thoughts on this. It's mostly for those who don't follow these forums closely (and a lot don't). Most of it summarizing what I already mentioned in my OP.
Also Angwold, there's not really going to be any work-around right now as Ubisoft themselves have deliberately disabled the servers. They weren't able to fix them when they first tried to address the issue, so they put the PC servers on hiatus. But not that it's 4.5 months since they've been down, why should it still be up in the air as to whether or not they will come back? Basically 130 days of just nothing. I just want to know what is to become of the servers, and not have it in this awkward limbo state where Ubisoft says "We can't determine if the servers will be operational again", which isn't really a direct answer. That answer was fine at the time, but after 130 days, I don't think that answer suffices at all. 130 days of no servers doesn't feel like a temporary thing, and really shouldn't be treated as such. That is such a long time.
Hi kristoff772, welcome! Ubicovah explains this situation in post # 29 of this thread.Originally Posted by kristoff772 Go to original post
Guys, just read post #29
It''s clearly said: leaderboards and challenges - Those features are currently disabled, and we are unable to confirm if they will be operational again in the future.
as ppl say they're disabled since 2018, so if you got that game for free in Epic store... well it was free.tho game is cool, I wish I knew about this game earlier.
The situation isn't that cut and dry.
First off, no, the servers have been down since the beginning of October 2019. That is getting close to about 5 months ago. It's been a long time, but it hasn't been since 2018. And there are problems with this downtime that I'll get into that's
And also, yes, they have said that the server features have been disabled for PC. But it's only been said under an obscure support article on the official Rayman Legends website. The Online Challenges mode and Leaderboards are still being advertised on all PC versions of the game. Even on the Epic store. There is no way to no before getting the game that the servers will be dead when you get the PC version of this game. Why would they if the online store pages on each store platform this game is available on says that the challenges and leaderboards are available?
One or the other needs to happen.
- They either need to fix the store pages to no longer advertise a feature as a selling point that has not worked for 5 months
- Or they need to actually fix the problem instead of sitting on it for well over 100 days.
That's the issue.
If they actually want to keep the servers disabled, then so be it, as long as they stop advertising that the features are still a valid selling point for this game, and actually make a greater effort to present the PC version of the game as the version that has no access to these features that's more obvious, instead of pushing out an obscure support article that most people won't realize exists, and if they do find it, they probably already got the game. Or, they find a way to actually restore the PC servers for the challenges back to a fully functioning state. Ubisoft has done neither of these things. That's why I take such a huge issue with this whole situation. It's in this middle ground where no one's happy, combined with the fact that the game still has falsely advertised features for a service that has not worked for 5 months. That's not a good situation. Something needs to happen. How it is right now is not good.
Gotta echo DJTHED's thoughts here. They're advertising something they killed off quietly without warning, and still banking on it.
Either take it off entirely, or bring the servers back up so the full experience as sold on store pages can actually be experienced. I miss my challenge runs.![]()
Well instead, Ubisoft makes a giveaway of Rayman Legends and guess what it says in KEY FEATURES?
This is just how much they "care".NEW CHALLENGES
