    Matchmaking is a Nightmare

New to the forums and pretty new to playing For Honor. HAI!

I am shocked to see so few threads in the forum about how matchmaking was bad, then was fixed, and now is... horrible.
    Just terrible.

All of the high-ranking players I know and watch streams for complain bitterly about it, as does...well... everyone I know who plays the game.
But it not only doesn't seem to be getting fixed, it doesn't even seem to be acknowledged.

I saw an Ubisoft response to another thread saying they will keep their eyes open for other reports like this one, so I figured i would dedicate my first thread to this incredibly frustrating problem and ask that it be addressed.

The primary issues we witness frequently are:

    - loooooong queue times, sometimes waiting an hour (or more) just to find a game
    - high reps matched up with low reps making the game annoying for both sides, it's no challenge for the high reps and the low reps don't improve their game because they just get mega-ganked
    - games where a team comes up against another team... that consists of 1 player and 3 bots or... ENTIRELY of bots. 4 bots despite Very High Activity and a long queue wait.

If you're a FH player who is also frustrated by matchmaking, I encourage you to make a thread and talk to Ubi about it!

    =)

stricter matchmaking will make queues longer.
see if you can fix your NAT if it's low, and play during peak hours

I know it sucks but I restart the entire game. There have been times I've waited 4 times for 5 mins each then restart the game and get a match in 2 minutes so I honestly think the game search is broken.

    Not Talking About Stricter MM

The thing of it is that MM was actually fixed for a little while there before a fall patch.
It was working really well then they updated and suddenly it's not just as bad as it was, it seems to actually be worse than it was before it was fixed.

No matter how well the matchmaking may or may not line up the reps and experience of players, at no point in time should an MM land you in a match against all bots or mostly bots, that's just ridiculous. That said, it's pretty funny as a rep 0 to wind up in a match with 7 other players who are all over rep 80.
    Ow. XD

I am primarily speaking to the experiences of other players, I myself am very new and a rep 0, but i am watching streams and know many experienced players.
They are all saying the same thing, and every time a Warrior's Den or article comes out and Ubisoft doesn't even mention that matchmaking has become garbage again and they are addressing it, there is a collective and community-wide eyeroll.

NAT has nothing to do with it btw, my NAT and my friends' are green green green and we do play during peak hours... always very high activity.

are you really rep0 or was that a typo? at 0 you really dont have enough gametime to experience any of this, dont rely so much on what streams or other people say, try it yourself.

i haven't seen the things you're describing. i can get bots every now and then but not a whole team full unless the lobby i am in for some reason start the game before the spots have been filled (which is something that needs to be fixed btw, letting the game autostart before people have joined is messed up).
i remember there being a bug where whole teams would get DC'd at the start or during a match, but that was a long time ago.

i agree the matchmaking varies a Lot, but there are many factors to the inconsistency of player performance. getting good matchmaking outside Duel mode seems difficult.
like people trying new characters or focusing entirely on quests. feats and revenge leveling the skill disparity - these things surely doesn't make it easier.

I am rep 0 but I have been watching friends play (not just streamers) for a very long time, and I also do watch a lot of streamers and am part of the community. I am rep 0 because although I got FH over a year ago, my life circumstances became very very complicated and I simply have not been able to dedicate many hours to the game. Just because my rep is 0 doesn't mean I don't know what I am talking about, if this is something you do not experience that's great, but a lot of people of various reps are having these issues.
Like, not a day goes by that I don't hear it from my friends, from some big streamers, and when I have time to play it is a big problem for myself.

yes it does matter, a lot. this is like people complaining about political matters - not because they know anything about it, but because they heard something about something from a friend.

it doesn't take many games to get rep1, it Does take many games to get a grip of queue times and matchmaking.
you're rep0, maybe the game is trying really hard to match you up with other very new people and therefor the queue's for you get longer? the skill difference when you are Just starting out is going to seem the biggest since every step you take is massive - maybe you are mistaking this for poor matchmaking?
are the things you're writing about here Really an issue for you if you've practically never actually played the game?

this game has many problems but the ones you've brought forward seems like issues solved by having a bigger playerbase, a problem hard to fix.

You don't understand how much I am exposed to the game. My own reps on my account are not representative of how much exposure to the MM system, I am a moderator on Twitch and I see many many players of many different reps and levels of players all over the world. There is no problem with the player base, there is very high activity and moreover to my point I will state again that IT WAS FIXED FOR A BIT AT THE END OF LAST SEASON. Then there was another update patch and the fix went away.
Many players are complaining about it and I feel it warrants addressing. If you play and you don't have this issue good for you, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't bring it up.

With all due respect you don't know what you're talking about. The OP has made perfectly valid observations and they have an accurate understanding of how Matchmaking has gone down the toilet ever since the start of Season 11.

Matchmaking was really bad up until the last quarter of Hitokiri's Season where the devs applied a patch that made matchmaking pretty good overall with relatively short wait times and good quality of skill parameters. However at the start of Jormungadr's Season the Season update broke whatever changes they had done and matchmaking became an utter dumpster fire for the majority of high level players and streamers.

It was a complete horror show of having rep 0 players frequently being put into matches with some of the top competitive players in the game. I myself made a thread about it back when it happened complete with video evidence from Clutchmeister's streams:

    https://forums.ubisoft.com/showthrea...r-s-Experience

Clutch isn't the only one. Zer0_craic, Daddy Law, Silberkreuz and a lot of other high level streamers are still getting matches with players below rep 15 or bots far too frequently. There are also players who don't stream such as myself but who also experience longer cue times and frequently find sub rep 15 players in our matchmaking. I have a small album of screenshots to prove it. My overall rep is 242.

I'm glad the op made this thread and is still raising the issue because this has still not been fixed. I hope the devs will make a statement about this eventually. Even just to tell us that they are working on a fix but no ETA yet. Any communication is better than this silence that we've had from them about this.
