It's a bit of a read so bare with me, I think this could be a very interesting aspect.
We know very well that horses (among other beasts, but I'll get to that) exist amongst the wildlife in the world of For honor. We also know that the inhabitants of the war torn land have tamed these creatures and have trained them for war (as referenced by the horse chase in the viking campaign, and the cavalry attack in the samurai campaign.
Of all the instruments of war we've see put into play in multiplayer, i.e. ballista, catapults, firebombs, traps, ziplines rams to name a few, I'm surprised we haven't seen some form of cavalry and I think it's a lost opportunity. What if cavalry was a mechanic you could use during battles?
How would it be implemented? Well as opposed to making it a feat for certain heroes it could instead be made as an interactive element found at key points in the map. It could be a lever, a banner, a signal (flaming arrow shot straight up or bonfire). It could only be accessed by the respective team it belongs to and activated only once per match (or if multiple times have it set with a refresh timer with a significant amount of time between uses)
What purpose would it serve? At the moment the calvary is let loose it would clear the contending point of all enemy minions (for the sake of realism it could also significantly damage friendly minions as well) it would also act as a way to hurt and/or kill any enemy hero currently in the field.
Much like in the attack of the samurai village in the samurai chapter of the main story, heroes caught in the middle of the stampede could lock onto the incoming charge and defend against the blows (at the risk of heavy damage being dealt if a block is missed or significant block damage being dealt) or if not it could act very much like the rolling death barrel in the deathmatch map (I forget the name) where it instantly kills anyone in it's way.
This could serve both as a "Hail Mary" for teams that are currently breaking and need a zone cleared but dont have the time or as an easy way to clear the contended area if the team is stretched too thin. Also maybe make the cavalry killable yet unstoppable, meaning that players could potentially take out a few of the calvary units for significant renown gain (maybe enough to unlock a feat quickly if you kill enough of them) without being able to stop it entirely. So ideally a player could take out 2 maybe 3 of them out of an entire company (20-30)
Now here's the interesting part. "The Cavalry" doesnt have to be soldiers on horseback. We know for a fact that elephants are trained for war as well as wolves. The Calvary could be a war elephant barreling through the minions like a hot knife through butter or War Hounds visciously tearing minions to shred left and right.
Now obviously it couldn't be on every map, we know horses cant climb siege towers and elephants probably dont do too well on boats I imagine. So out of the maps we have, maybe pick two or three where we could use these.
That's it. That's all I got. Let me know what you think, good or bad. I'm eager to see people's notes.
