Hi,
So everything was working fine, then I installed AC: Unity, it didn't work, it was crashing on startup, I've tried everything but gave up in the end and deleted it.
Then, when I tried to play ghost recon wildlands it was crashing on startup too (equally rainbow six siege), which is really weird because they were working perfectly prior to that. (other games like Anno 1800 and Monopoly work normally)
I have tried everything from verifying game files to updating my drivers.
To describe what happens exactly: I launch the game (from Uplay) then the game's icon appears with the logo mid-screen and then suddenly it disappears and Uplay reopens just to see the play button reilluminating.
Hey Alimo17, sorry for the late reply!
Very odd indeed. As the crash issue is affecting other games outta nowhere, can you test again after a clean boot? it may have been some recently installed software that has caused this problem.
If the issue persists, try reinstalling Uplay altogether.
The game keeps crushing for me, too. I've reinstalled Uplay already. No improvement.
So I've reinstalled Uplay.
I've downloaded 50GB+ of the game AGAIN.
I've installed the latest drivers from Nvidia.
And this piece of crap still crashes.
Are Ubisoft servers for this game still online? Because I think there is a problem on your end, Ubi. Why don't you get your *** in gear and fix it? Should I get a cracked version from torrents in order to play this game? Because right now it is 100% unplayable. Maybe there was a clause somewhere in the license agreement saying I can play the game for a limited time after release.
Or how about improving your error messages? Because right now "Oh no... This hoe crashed again!" doesn't help one bit.
Other games at least specify what file is causing the problem, what DLL is to blame.
Most of the errors with Ubisoft games are caused by Uplay. If only you'd let Steam handle the DRM side of things...
And how many times and over what period of time do I have to upload the crash reports in order for you to fix this game? Right now CPY, Scene, and other fellows do it much faster.
Something clicked and the game no longer crashes after I've added a trial version of the game to my library and played it. Stuff was probably installed and the unexplained errors were fixed. The game is now playable both using the trial game icon in the library and the standard one.
To be clear: the game that didn't work was bought on Steam ages ago. Then I added the trial game in Uplay, the Uplay started downloading the game, I copied the Steam folder of the game into C:/Ubisoft, and chose "Locate installed game". Uplay went "Discovering files". It finished the download so to say and now I can play.
So many hoops!
Hey Ved79_RU_EN! Great to hear that the game now works. Appreciate that you've taken out the time to let us know how you've resolved this. It might help others that might be in a similar situation.
I've compared the distribution from Steam and that from Uplay.
Uplay's has Support folder with vcredist_x64_2012.exe and DirectX 10 folder inside while Steam's doesn't have these two. I think it is what fixed the game for me. I mean these two components getting installed after I've "downloaded" the game. Someone in Ubisoft needs to update the game files they've given to Steam. Unless sabotage is intended.
