Now that I think about it it's more of an assasins creed weapon type rather than steam punk. I think it's the implementation, simple, unbalanced, niche nature of for honor. Being able to play fancy characters, beasts, archers, and pirate gun men would only enhance gameplay. I play multi-player games only and I've never not wanted a tank like vehicle in my game. This whole realism people are grasping to in for honor is stifling to creativity. I'd have no issue if they let you play a flying dragon so long as they balanced the game appropriately. Or if they put in well known villains like dracula. I know they have to keep to the feel of for honor so you won't see a terminate being a hero but adding medieval mechanicals and magic doesn't bother me. Like hito, I love the idea of the hero but the implementation is ruining the gand for many people for months now and ubi hasnt done anything.
This is very dumb in my opinion. There is no real magic in the game unless you mean effects that have no impacts on fights. Abilities and feats are only there to make things interesting regardless what happens.
The Assassins Creed event already happened and rewarded players with game-related gear and effects for their characters.
If you want a tank, defend or attack the ram in Breach. OR you could just play a tanky hero.
I really don't think you understand the hero at all. And yes magic is definitely in the game unless you can teleport? And even if it wasnt it doesn't negate the fact that contraptions are in the game. And the hero isn't a heavy. He's a hybrid that is complex enough to keep people who have played this game a long time interested in the game. He would be the shang tsung of for honor.Originally Posted by GoldBrady Go to original post
And it's not dumb. A weapon that can change into other weapons in the game is clever.
As the others said - it wont fit into the setting. Its like you would bring in a Picard from Star Trek with a laser.
Edit: Cool that youre trying to bring in new stuff to the game. But there´s rules to follow. Take a look on the existing setting. Setting means the whole world the game is located in. Is it a futuristic word, is it medival, is it pure fantasy where everything is mixed up and possible? Is there magic, are there ballistic weapons like machine guns? What would fit in? What is the fundametal idea, the core of the game? Here it is medival guys fighting each other. No magic, no futuristic weapons. Never switch that, always stick to that. Thats why people bought the game, thats the core.
Ask yourself, is it just you liking the idea, would it be "epic and awesome" on the first thought, or does it fit in the whole game compared to the other chars. Putting somthing new into the game, just because its trendy, is just a no-no and it will break the lore.
Yes there is magic in the game. The most significant of which is shaolins teleport or Jorms hammer slam. If we stick to convention the game never grows. I'm not saying add gunpowder just an unconventional weapon.Originally Posted by Thorndal. Go to original post
New lore: title: The Worm Tide
when the earth broke and the water ran dry the fighting began. Many fled to the caves below. In the caves they waited and drank from the secret springs. They waited to see who would be the victor above them. They waited and studied their opponents of all factions. When dragons (wulin) came and the darkness (BP) steadfast against they knew they had missed their chance. Ragnarok came and went with no unworldly sign of change... Except below.
The sea flooded the springs and caves causing devestation to the underworld. A whole civilization nearly whipped out unbenounce to the hethen hordes who followed the serpent. Ragnarok did come. And now the cave dwellers have no choice but to fight. These were once scholars of all arts who could not lift a sword to save their life. But over generations they studied and perfected all the factions martial arts. And the few that remain seek vengeance for Ragnarok.
Living incaves has made them tall and slender with the ability to contort in all fashion of movements. In the caves they lived horizontal lives like snakes under rocks at times.
They have waited and now debts will be paid for the massacre of their kin by the hethens. The sheep have died and the under earth has been flooded. The worms that have survived the devastation now seek to claim by force. They have no choice. Their homes are gone.
(this is just an example of how they could be added right now not an actual lore. That I'd leave to ubi)
I wish people had been kinder in saying so, but I agree that the character idea doesn't fit the rest of the game. I hope more fighting games come out with this or some other innovative fighting system, because I'd also like to see this applied to other genres and settings. I have a soft spot for steam punk and agree it would be cool, though I don't really see it as a genre going with fighting games.
Personally I'd like to see some legendary warrior cultures from south of the equator or the pre colonial americas make it in eventually. definitley agree that innovating game modes should be higher priority, but one day... I'm thinking of the Haida or Maori or Zulus. Please excuse my ignorance if any of those terms are offensive, or if their inclusion in this game would be offensive, I honestly intend no disrespect. Quite the opposite
