There are some aspects of BR that I enjoy much more than Wildlands, e.g. the level of detail in the world, especially in urban areas. Exploring is fun as it was in WL and I personally find the combat and core gameplay loop to be very engaging, just as they were in WL.
What I do not enjoy in BR are bullet sponge drones, the far shorter story, the pointless gear score system and the fact that most of the desirable cammo schemes for equipment & uniform are locked behind raid & PvP requirements that I will have zero interest in playing even when they're available. Obviously PvP is a thing now but I have no interest in it. Shame really as I would have been willing to pay a modest sum for some tasty ATACS cammo.
I think BP has the potential to be as good as WL was. Is it as good now? Nope.
I like the game, but it has alot of work that still needs to be done. Now if the developers actually support and patch in alot of fixes then I will keep my copy, otherwise.Originally Posted by MasterTro11 Go to original post
My biggest concern right now is the last patch barely fixed anything, and made some things worse... so based on trend prediction, I will have to wait for the next tactical shooter.
Not even close. I played Wildlands almost every day from release date all the way up until Oct. 1st. I loved it. It was a blast with friends, and it was a blast playing by myself. Ghost Mode was awesome, and the gunsmith, other than being a tad restrictive with certain optics on certain weapons and not having a bipod, was outstanding.
I could customize my operator from the ground up in uniforms, kit, and camo that is currently in use in every SOF unit in the US Armed Forces at the beginning of the game, without having to pay a dime extra. While the faces and hairstyles weren't abundant, they were decent enough to make a reasonably okay character that I didn't hate looking at.
This game has none of that. It is rife with bugs, half the cosmetics I loved in wildlands (that should have been available as starting kit that went in with you on the helicopter) are paywalled, and the new looter shooter elements are just awful.
Add to that the stupid enemy AI, incredibly tedious and repetitive missions, a vast world that is completely devoid of character, and the addition of "weapon variants" with utterly ridiculous modification restrictions in place of a more robust gunsmith, along with a host of other problems that have already been mentioned and I find myself regretting purchasing this game.
This game is okay at best when I'm playing with my friends. None of us really play by ourselves after the first week post-release, because it just gets really boring really fast. This is the last Ubisoft game I will ever pre-order. If they continue making games like this, it'll be the last one I ever play.
TL;DR No.
Honestly? No. Not even close. Wildlands was fun. Even the stuff that was broken was still fun. I’d play with my friends every time and we kept playing from release day until Breakpoint came out...now we’re sad. If I hadn’t jumped the gun and spent so much on this trash pile I’d stop playing it already. It makes me feel dirty and used because I’m not enjoying it, but I refuse to waste that money. Like I’m some cheap tart for Ubisoft to use and abuse however they wish. This game isn’t what I wanted or paid for. I wish they’d of told us from the get to the BS additions they were putting into it. GS, social space, live service, and more bugs than a bug house at a zoo. Not even funny bugs like roley poleys. Sad bugs, like the dung beetle, just keeps pushing **** around. And I’m tired of trying to play with an unpolished turd.
nope.
Unlike the post above the urban areas in BP to me are totally lifeless. I much prefer the grit and uniqueness of the various urban areas of Wildlands.
BP has potential but some things like the GS just create too much overhead. Yeah I can get blueprints for the weapons I want to use and keep buying them to keep them current, but the fact that I even have to consider that process is just lame. It is more micro management of my stuff that takes away from the game. And the gear score special benefits to the weapons is just weird. What the heck is a +6 against drones weapon? Freakin magic? And a +10 stealth beanie...….fck me.
Character customization is done so much better in Wildlands.
The session drops are just way too annoying.
The vehicle thing is just ridiculous. Yeah me driving around should be something that is not too easy, but on the other hand they note it is me in their vehicle faster than they note me standing 30 meters away.
Too many holes/flaws in the story and missions - even if Wildlands missions were repetitive, they were at least consistent with the situation. BP missions frequently have me scratching my head as to what was their purpose. In some cases I am not even sure what I accomplished.
Things I do like as someone else noted - ammo conservation is something I do need to consider.
I want to like this game but it needs more work.
