After 10 hours in, ambient sounds have almost entirely vanished from my game. All I hear is the occasional chirp of a bird, maybe one or two gusts of wind every 20 seconds, and a very strange and canny sounding grass rustle every once in a while. But these sounds are very isolated and sound very jarring, since there's no overall environment ambiance. There's literally 0 audio happening between those few sounds. It's almost defeaning how silent it is.
When I jump out of a chopper at a high distance and dive now, I also have 0 audio effects. When it rains, I also can't hear it.
I tried re installing. Hasn't helped.
This is really ruining my experience and immersion and I find it hard to want to play with no proper ambient audio.
Thanks for the quick reply. I'm using a headset currently.Originally Posted by Ubi-Ginge Go to original post
Here is a link to a video showing the problem.. you'll notice as I load in the rain can be heard briefly then immediately vanishes. If I go near a vehicle however I can actually hear the droplets hitting it. https://gamerdvr.com/gamer/blackiech...video/80334322
Here is another example. there's a static-like sound that keeps happening every few seconds as well .. sounds like it should be grass rustling but it sounds terrible with the quiet background.

Yeah, I got the same issue. The sound of the wind through the grass is very choppy and cuts in and out (video posted in an older thread).
I've also had moments when all ambient sounds disappear for a short time, which happens mainly on top of hills as you are in those videos. It's very odd when it happens.
Can confirm the same issues on Xbox One X.. And they arrived after the latest update, if that helps..
Sound was fine before this, then loaded up the game after the update and immediately noticed something was off.. Game felt sterile somehow, and became clear exactly what when I saw rain but heard nothing..
There's no lots of ambient detail sounds still working though..
It's as if the channel that certain audio files are on, has been turned down.
If it's raining, there's no sound until I get close to certain objects or surfaces..
There's missing wind I think as well.. Sound is dead, then as I got closer to the water on a beach, rain and wind comes back and the world seems to come alive again..
But it's not as if it cuts off or starts abruptly.. I notice fades.. And this does not make sense to me, unless there's something working like a compressor used to automatically suppress sound..
Like what you may want to for example when you want to lower ambient sound as soon as a mic detects audio input, to make chatting easier in a game when there's less distracting audio playing at the same time (I don't use a mic though and so it would have to be something in the game that is ducking the sound if indeed that's what is going on)
But it's weird how it triggers.. As if there's a silent track for a compressor effect to get triggered by at all times to suppress sound, and then let audio through together with other sounds in certain locations..
Another example has been in locations where you should hear rain, and you use the drone, and as you turn off the drone again you hear rain and ambient sounds come back and then swiftly fade into silence again..
I've tried reinstalling the game but this had no effect.
