It was normally just whatever I picked up off the ground that had better gear score(tons of AK74's and MP5's) but I'm 4 levels from the cap and it starting to not matter that much.
ASR: 416/416 Assault Special, M4A1, or Silver Stake Tactical(I think it just looks cool, hopefully we will get a regular variant down the line) occasionally the MK17 Assault
SMG: UMP45 or MP7, probably UMP
DMR: G28, i have a hard time using anything else
SNR: TAC-50, M82, or the Zastava M93
LMG: CTMMG, L86A1, or the Stoner, I don't use LMG's a lot.
STG: KSG, M4, and Saiga 12 specifically in that order
HDG: P227, M1911, PX4, and if I want to meme I'll use the Desert Eagle

I like a sh*t ton of guns. I always enjoy trying out all weapons, mixing & matching attachments to see which guns are actually good. Especially w/ how it translates directly over to PvP in Breakpoint
Favorites are the MPX, M4A1, & Recon A1. Easily those 3 at the top for me, but what's nice is there's tons of good guns in this game. Not far behind are:

805 Bren
MP5
MK17
Stoner
AK-12

Then, a few other guns became MUCH more enjoyable after obtaining all the attachments, & optimizing their setups; the G36, MK48, M416, F2000 & AK-47 in particular. I'd take any of the above weapons w/ me into PvP
I've also found that swapping optics alone, can require a readjustment of other attachments to keep the gun running at it's best. Part of it is related to the 10% vertical recoil nerf from using iron sights. But also, even just going from one optic to the other, partially due to the magnification or FOV.
& it's worth mentioning that I def swap between 1st & 3rd person as I see fit, sometimes just sticking with 1 for long stretches. I try out all optics, I like using the irons, & ect. So my opinion comes from a very varied use of these guns

Started My Panther rank up with VSHD2 ,nice assaulter sadly i did not try it with a nade launcher. Swapped that yesterday to G28 wolves edition. Hate The DMR's low damage output lol, but that gun has some "bonuses at night Time"?
MPX, looks cool with silencer, also Good stats. Swapped that yesterday to MP7 like @toast suggested.
Sharpshooter setup
Recon A1, lower damage output than snipers but drops enemies easily. Faster reload, compact size. Good gun.
416&516 i guess good guns but VSHD2 felt stronger. I probably won't go back to these if I don't get special versions.
On wildlands i sticked only M4A1, so this time i try to switch guns often. I miss guns stat sheet what we have on wildlands even tho it was bugged. GRBP stats seems to be oversimplicated.

Assault rifles: probably the Mk17 Assault, or the 416 Shorty, I liked both, especially when you're detected and everything goes south
SMG: Scorpion EVO 3 CQC all the way, good thing bullets are free, because this little baby would be my ruin with the 50 rounds magazines, and the high ROF it has
LMG: M60E6, but, as it isn't in the game (I hope only temporally), I'd say the Stoner or maybe L86
Sniper rifles: Tac50, not too much to say, is one of the best rifles in the game
DMR: 416 Scout, or G36C Scout, Mk14, Scorpio Scout... there's many of them, and I like them all (except, maybe the SVD Dragunov, but that is because we don't have the wood version, like the AK-47!)
Shotgun: The Saiga... 12 rounds per magazine (with extended mag), good ROF (for being a shotgun), decent effective range... and most important thing: it doesn't last an eternity and part of another to reload!
Handguns: M1911, a classic, yes, but I loved it and still, in every game it appears
