Thanks to Callum Smith for posting this in the Facebook Group
It’s not been that long since we last got a new Far Cry game thanks to the launch of New Dawn earlier this year. Even that came just a few months after Far Cry 5, but it seems that a new FC might already be on the cards.
The rumour mill is in full swing once again, this time suggesting that not only is a new FC coming – but that it’s going to be called Far Cry Frenzy, and will follow the free-to-play model.
The rumour stems from Reddit, which isn’t the most reliable of sources at the best of times, so take this with a pinch of salt for now. At the time of writing, the post has not only been deleted, but the OP has also deleted their account. Because of Ubisoft? Maybe…
Before it was deleted, the post was spotted by Future Game Releases, who says the OP claimed that Ubisoft is working on Far Cry Frenzy, a free-to-play game that was supposed to release this August. The OP also claimed the game got delayed.
Going into some detail, the poster also said Far Cry Frenzy will be – or at least, was supposed to be – a 12-player multiplayer game that also included a map maker within in. Available only as a digital download, the game is around 27GB in size, apparently.
That above is saying could be released as early as November like they did with Apex Legends in releasing with virtually no hype / marketing.
I really can't wait for more info on this, previously there was a rumor that Ubisoft Berlin were working on a new Far Cry game that was multiplayer based, hoping it also allows 1-4 player coop and that our current maps can be opened up and re-worked as new PvP modes or extras added.
Posted some vids and suggestions some of us over the years have mentioned these things so not just my own opinion, if the games already made & going through late testing then lets hope they have done a good job![]()
Chute Drop with special weapon or weapon attachments / special ammo or power-up allow the box to also be sabotaged / trapped, like in New Dawn these can drop into the map at random locations / random intervals.
Healing allow to turn ON or OFF either via modifier set to the map or in host / lobby options, healing is currently in coop from FC5 and New Dawn so could easily work in PvP and although I am not a fan I think it would be something close to a majority who would want this feature.
Weapon attachments
One of the worst things is playing a map with attachments you don't like, I prefer Iron Sights and others might prefer Scopes so would be good if players could take these off if they are on and you don't want them - also if sniper rifles are in the map let people add scopes to them if they don't have them so whatever weapons people put in the map allow to take on or off scopes / silencers.
Missing weapons
crossbow / harpoon gun from Far Cry 4 I would love these in multiplayer the crossbow was an excellent weapon, harpoon gun would be hilarious if we could pin players to walls / doors while they bleed out.
Search & Destroy. Known to Counter Strike fans as Bomb Defusal
Search and Destroy is a similar concept to Team Survival, only it boasts a specific objective. Teams take turns to attack a bomb site while the other defends, with both sets of players only having one life per round to do so. Teams can win in a number of ways including eliminating all their opponents, defusing or successfully planting and detonating the bomb. This means that like Team Survival, S&D produces a large number of exciting, nail biting encounters but, crucially, it also avoids dull draws.
Capture The Flag (CTF)
The concept of grabbing flags is perfect for competition
Allow the match options to be set so the number of flags required can be altered for winning the game say 1-5
Allow the game to be changed to Assault (Attack / Defend so Team One starts with the opposite teams flag and all they have to do is get it back to score with Team 2 not having a flag they just have to defend and stop Team One from scoring (allow in options for the match to set the number of flags / score required to win the match)
If team one do not make the set number of scores then team two would win by default so the actual score for killing players is irrelevant instead it forces Team One to assault because if they don’t push forward and make the score they will lose and Team Two must defend because if they allow Team One to score the required number of points then they lose.
Maybe look at adding in something cool that could mix things up so although I mentioned players kill count is not irrelevant what if we could have an option where players who do score heavily get some kind of perks so say better weapon performance, an increase in speed, maybe look at some options where the players can select what they would like and if they get that number of kills then these things kick in.
CTF DOUBLE ASSAULT
Have this so that both teams spawn with the enemies flag so they don’t have to capture it instead they have to get it back to make the steal, there are some instances where CTF can be a dull drawn out affair this happens when a player gets the flag (known as the carrier) and they go into hiding until their flag is returned so they can then go and make the steal and score, the killer here is if both carriers on each team use similar tactics – then both teams have to send players out looking for the enemies carrier it can get very tactical and to some boring so we could look at an option where the flag placement area is always available, have this as an option for a moderator to tick on or off (either saved with the map or done as a choice in the lobby – hosting options)
Also with vehicles there is a possible issue depending if vehicles respawn and how many are on the map a problem could arise where the carrier gets into a plane or helicopter or boat and takes off so could be difficult getting to them, one way to combat this would be to limit the time in which a carrier can stay in specific vehicles.
Flying vehicles would be the worst but this could possibly be abused if a driver lands then takes off and repeats these steps – if the player stays at height for too long in a vehicle then the flag should reset back to its initial spawn location.
Would be good if we could throw the flag and also if we could have some option on it so in darker maps maybe have it illuminated and in lighter maps maybe emitting smoke - this would be very sweet if there were some cool options so let’s say flames / light for the color of the team carrying
How about an everyone for themselves style CTF so with this a flag will appear on the map (would be better for smaller style maps – arenas) so the beauty of this is that the flag will spawn in one of a number of locations (let’s say 10-20 locations) a player will collect the flag and try to make it back to a location where the flag can be deposited / dropped off.
It would not be fair to only have one location as players would camp there so either have the flag drop off point as random or have multiple ones become available, so you can go to any to score.
If the player is killed the flag stays where it falls for a set length of time – if no other player picks up the flag, then it respawns.
If a player does pick up the flag they continue to a drop off point to score unless they are killed, then another player would get the opportunity to pick up the flag before it respawns.
So, the Flag Drop Off Points would change each time a player scores as would the flag respawn stations – the match would play for the duration unless any one player scores enough times that the match would end (as an example score 3 or 5 times to end match and win)
When the timer runs out the player with the highest score wins, the beauty of this is you don’t always need to be the player that gets to the flag first if you are clever you could shoot / kill a player just before they score, pick up the flag and score yourself.
TEAM DEATHMATCH
Standard Red v Blue – also have a modifier so this mode can be played as Team Survival / Elimination so once a team is eliminated the other team wins – one life each (or you could have an option to set the lives from one to three for each player in the hosting options so once a player loses all their lives they are out)
The big draw back here is that players often leave once dead rather than staying until the match ends, with Far Cry Instincts Predator in Predator mode any dead player could scroll through remaining alive players and view the action (guessing if you could view the enemy team you could give away hints if in chat so would be best in Team to allow this so you can only scroll through the alive players on your team) That could keep players together from leaving after death as they can still watch the action.
Also in TDM mode allow enemy A.I. to work in the mode and each time an enemy A.I. gets a kill this takes one point off the Players Score / so one overall point off the Team, A.I. could be specific to teams so friendly A.I. with Team one that would attack Team 2 and Friendly A.I. that would only attack Team One (enemy / )
Or neutral A.I. who would attack both teams – same result a point taken from the team and players kill count each time they are killed by an A.I.
FFA (Free For All) solo DEATHMATCH mode.
Same as team the player with the most kills wins, the match would end if either the timer runs out or a player gets to the number of kills required to win.
Allow Last Man Standing so players only get one life, the last player remaining wins.
Allow Enemy A.I. that kill any player they come into contact with, if an enemy amimal or NPC gets a kill then that player loses ONE from their Kill Count
Battle Royale
Play size must become smaller, maybe options to have fire / toxic gas / smoke so this automatically scripts in at set time through the game making the area turn into a damage zone any player would become damaged and be forced to move more into the middle of the map, the damage area would eventually consume the whole map so any players left would be left fighting in a small area.
Drop off parachutes at random locations every 1 minute (these parachute drops work in Far Cry New Dawn, they used to float on water but thinking that was patched outso these would work brilliant if we wanted them in PvP maps dropping extras like health / armor / weapons)
Start with no weapons or set a weapon to start with from options as a modifier
Have better weapons spawn in to set areas so more powerful, again Far Cry New Dawn had different grades of weapon so players could start with standard and find better quality ones randomly spawning in the map or from parachute drops.
Have ammo crates spawn in at random areas
One life only
Bomb Defusal
Maybe some kind of mode where one team has to defuse bombs at the other teams base, so it is again attack and defend unless there is an option for both teams to go at it where the first team to defuse the opposite teams bombs wins - if no team does that then it goes to most kills wins the match.
King of the Hill
While PC players generally stick to Search & Destroy, console players have always enjoyed a range of game modes, one of the most successful and entertaining of which is King of the Hill. KotH requires organisation, knowledge and a touch of luck as teams have to ensure that one of their players holds ground. Fans of Halo know how well suited this mode is to professional competition.
Black Ops 2 introduced Hardpoint; a King of the Hill variation. With instant respawns, Hardpoint lent itself perfectly to Call of Duty and proved to be an exciting spectator experience. Hardpoint was an immediate addition to the pro circuit but, one year on and the mode was surprisingly omitted from the next instalment in the CoD series. Fans would certainly welcome a return of this mode.
Also look at Seek & Secure in Far Cry Instincts Predator – combine this so basically KOTH is either a static all in the same place or the location moves at random from 1-5 stations, if a station is not captured after a set length of time from when it becomes active then the station would time out and respawn in another location.
A team can capture the station for a set length of time and the station could then power down and respawn in another area, if a team capturing gets killed the station then turns a different color and will only remain active for so long so a timer appears and when that stops if a team has not taken control of the station it would time out and respawn elsewhere, whenever one team takes control of the station the station flashes or turns to their teams color – this can change backwards and forwards as the teams capture until the station is either fully captured or times out.
Vehicles (land and sea) should be able to capture the station.
Also allow multiple stations to become active at the same time if a modifier is set to random so up to 2 stations could become active at any one time or it could be just one station – all set as random.
DOMINATION
The objective of Domination is to own all of the control points on the map. There are usually at least three of these control points scattered around the map and are usually found in key strategic locations. To capture a control point, a player must stand near it for 10 seconds with no enemies nearby to capture it for the player's team.
Gain Points for each kill to the enemy and if you secure a domination point you get a bonus for each station you secure, if you score all 3 stations then you get a bigger bonus.
The more players that stand in the location of the capture point the faster the player would capture this area, on the flip side the enemy team could get a nice multi-kill seeing all these players in the same small area at once.
If a team is dominating far too easily and have all 3 stations locked down, then maybe give the enemy a set time to take back a station and if it is not done in that time then the match ends.
Journey Multiplayer
This is more of a Race Mode for teams so have an extraction point and set the number of players required to capture it, set the length of time needed to capture it then does the match end once captured or do you link this extraction point to another extraction point – the end result will be one team wins.
Allow for each team to have their own extraction point and the team that gets to theirs first and capture wins.
With an extraction point give us this feature like how the Control Zones look so it is the same shape (square / circle) and can be increased or decreased in size, also give an option to include a timer which can work in different ways so
The timer can be between Extraction Points forcing the player to make it from one point to another in the set time or the map ends – once the player gets there it would be a great option to allow a timer to trigger on the actual extraction point so you have to defend it for the duration then the next timer kicks in where you have to make it to the next extraction point then defend it – the final extraction would end the match.
Would work great for Escape / Obstacle Course / Race / Wingsuit style maps.
Predator Mode - was a lot of fun in Far Cry Instincts Predator something like this would be great - more info later.
RACE MODE
An actual Race Mode similar to Journey Mode mentioned above but also with a way to count laps, this should be for both SOLO / COOP and PvP and the 3 fastest times between friends and 3 fastest global times and names of players should show / be recorded.
SOLO / COOP MODES
OUTPOST
This needs to go like it did in new dawn where there are different difficulties so if you play on easy 1 alarm / normal 2 alarms / hard 3 alarms / expert more than 3 alarms, also with increased difficulty enemies would be harder to kill and dogs would have explosives, enemies could have better weapons, And completing one difficulty setting unlocks the next - each time you complete you can rate the map and each difficulty setting can have a different time of day setting if required.
ASSAULT
There have been issues with assault in the number of enemies needed killing, often this number appears to get confused with friendly enemies when they Kill enemies and the result can mean that the number of kills to beat the map has been reached but the map does not end so assault needs looking at to iron out the bugs.
Bounty Hunt
This is a really good mode, the biggest problem is that we can only have wave one enemies as targets so would be better if we could still have a target in later waves.
Biggest issue with FC5 is the number of enemies on screen at any one time, New Dawn feels slightly better but still the numbers are pretty low compared to FC4
Expeditions Mode in FC New Dawn very cool I like this a lot and would love to see it as an option to use and create maps for in the next game.
ENEMIES
One thing that would help is if we could select the difficulty for enemies or add in the hits / damage needed to kill them, Far Cry New Dawn has different difficulty with the outposts and the enemies are tougher so if something like this below were possible it gives up map builders more options to create a better playing experience.
Select enemy, have a drop-down box / option for the selected enemy for Easy / Normal / Difficult / Elite, depending what is selected they would absorb more hits, do more damage and look slightly different in their appearance.
One problem we have encountered is that certain enemies might not have weapons we want, with FC5 the Vietnam DLC had a set number of enemies but none with the sniper rifle so if we could select an enemy and then select the weapon we wish them to start with and if this requires different animation then if that could be adjusted so whatever weapon we pick the enemy A.I. / Friendly NPC
If enemies could have different difficulty levels, then how about the option to turn on or off a health gauge above their head.
When killing enemies in say Assault Mode or Outpost we must kill them all to end the match, sometimes it can be really hard finding that last enemy but if we had all enemy tags turned on then it can spoil the experience / surprise and with Far Cry 5 we had the homeopathic and could use one to show an enemy on screen but hardly anyone knew about these so an option to pause the map and some Modifiers in a Menu so Highlight Enemies On / Off that would be so helpful.
LINKING LEVELS
Something that has previously been mentioned by people which was very successful in a small indie game called Gunscape is the linking of user created levels so as you finish one the next one in the series would load up.
Imagine Part One and you get to an extraction point or kill the required number of enemies to end the match and after the end screen / match stats there is then an option Favourite Level / See More Maps by this Creator / Play Part 2 or play next map that is linked.
Generic Shapes
Have similar option to Paint so say 4-6 selections saved as favorites which we can change at any time, this allows us to select straight from them rather than having to go through the list every time would speed things up so much.
Have the list in alphabetical order and anything new added also in alphabetical order.
Allow us to click on any genetic shape in the map that has been textured and instantly switch to that selected texture to re-apply to others.
Need more shapes which are difficult to build especially archways in different sizes.
Tags
Tags in alphabetical order, also add tags to searches so those maps would filter out more in a search - if you only want to play linear maps search via Tag Linear etc so makes it much faster to find things.
Map Voting
The current voting system is not working (years ago some of us thought it would be good just allowing one vote but it has major issues)
If the builder has a low rating and they then fix up the map to make it really good anyone who has already voted can no longer get another vote, this is like a pyramid scheme - all friends vote and they can't vote again on the same map so it quickly falls through the pages and gets lost and new players rarely see these maps.
With Far Cry 2 you could vote every time you play a map this did have issues where people would play their maps again and again to beef up the rating but maybe that's a good thing in one way as it keeps them playing the game - looking back it was a better system than we currently have with Far Cry 5.
This idea on weather is by Sabotur - Simon Wright, love what he said.
Weathering increments as a suggestion for a future map editor tool. Imagine a tool a bit like the terrain tools for smooth or paint, but on objects, any objects for example, painting cracks on objects and the longer you hold it then it gradually makes bigger and bigger cracks, like a variable decal, like 12 stages of degradation. You can kind of paint on any part of an object (not the terrain) and it adds cracks in increments, quantifiable increments to kind of "age" an object. There could be another tool, for adding maybe "moss" which paints objects with a gradual build-up of vegetation. This could even be expanded from a mossy surface to dirt build-up and eventual leafy plants.
I would add to this.
If that can't be achieved then maybe lots more decals and also terrain paint that has dirty / rusty / damaged / aged look to it so possibly look at some existing generic shape textures and give us some worn and damaged decaying variations to them.
With Solo Maps
They need a system that records the quickest time / fastest time & most kills or most head-shots, that kind of thing.
Have a Top 3 Global and a Top 3 on your friends list and if your time gets beaten then you get a message / prompt saying a friend or person has beaten your time which gives the option to keep trying - that would cause replay-ability in maps.
Far Cry New Dawn had difficulty on outposts which had the player starting in different locations.
We can actually add more spawns around a solo / coop map in Far cry 5 but you don't get a choice in where it starts so its random, having a selection so as an example.
1. Air Drop, 2. At Sea 3. Drive to map 4. Stealth Route 5. Straight into action (as mentioned and done by some clever people already) that should be included with options for time of day selection (as already added via scripts) But from a menu pre-starting the map.
I also think that some modifiers need to be options that the player can select so turn on or off Tagets / Enemies with tagging, I hate it on most maps and it's set to the map on save so would be good choice to turn on / off.
Same for infinite bullets and destructibility / no fire damage that kind of thing, give it to the players on an option area the kids will love it, serious players would play as standard and kids could never die - it would add more plays to the map so why not and this feature would not calculate any scores if you turn them on should a map save the best time / score etc.
Difficulty - Outpost maps in New Dawn were great as was Expeditions, each time you complete the map it would add more alarms, more enemies, tougher enemies and guard dogs would eventually have proximity C4 and detonate when close to you, so allow players to play the map on different difficulty settings which again adds to replay.
I think Assault is now the worst mode as often the enemies screw up and some maps an't be completed due to numbers required not always adding up - Far Cry could do with a horde mode for 4 players where you go through waves also allowing players to drop in and drop out.
I like the load-outs but think a player could also benefit if they can save their own custom load-out to take into maps providing there is a need for it so if the player ticks a box saying allow custom load-out Y/N then players could start with their own saved load-out which could be different from the ones in game.
Another thing is scope or iron sights, I would like to see animations allowing the player to equip or take off sights, I love the AK47 but prefer Iron Sights so if I start and the builder selected scopes give the player an option to take them off or fit them if not there at the start, or place them in maps and then fit them on picking them up.
Over the years lots of us players have mentioned things we would like to see, some of these I remember and we keep saying until they are in the game and others are mu own opinions.Originally Posted by Iamcuddles Go to original post
Generally I think most would agree it's about choice so if players get the choices they need then everyone is happy - obviously we will never get everything but it's better to reach for the stars and keep asking - never be content keep pushing
Some of the suggestions we wanted for Far Cry Arcade and others are for improvements to Arcade so for the new game I guess, also there have been some Ubisoft Workshops where lots of brainstorming was done - unfortunately lots doesn't make it but you have to hope they take some of it on board and try to add it another time but usually with multiplayer each game gets a different team with fresh ideas.
