I'm also about GS 170-180 and ran into this problem
but you can get low level gear (the green ones) at Maria's shop in Erewhon.

but green ones are too high aswell to give standard weapon parts they give improved or something.

Hey guys! First time im posting something here, but: I've come to this thread due to the link from the "Scuba-Pants-Incident". You can get the "Standard-Weapon-Parts" from drones. The Groups of flying drones have a great chance of dropping them. Also here's a good drone location: Murmur Patrol Area (120+), Driftwood Islets.

youll start seeing yellows round GS 120 mate then it kicks off but save those standards they are whatr you will beg for

this is utterly unacceptable from a triple A title/franchise. it's a core part of the game that should not be such an issue. ubisoft is always doing this ****, I'm almost to the point where I'm not going to buy anything from them again.

Im having the same issues, once your gear score goes past 100 its impossible to get standard weapon drops.

Kinda stupid you cant at least convert between standard/improved/advanced parts..

And here I thought I was being clever rolling my blueprints for parts sounds like I’m just wasting Skrell, just like I was wasting it in scopes that don’t fit any of my guns

both open betas capped the gear level at about 40 so this issue never arose in testing. this is WHY the betas should not have been level capped!!!

A copy of my reply to a similar thread:

The game should automatically take the next tier if a lower is missing. Out of standard? Use Improved. Out of Improved? Use Advanced, etc.
Simple solution for a simple but overseen problem.

Standard parts are regularly dropped when you destroy drones and equipment (not weapon) trucks. Managed to upgrade all my guns without any issues.
