Graphically a beautifully rendered world that seems devoid of life, activity, and even enemy density. Isn't this island suppose to be a mecca for people to come and eatablish as new society? Where is all the commerce? Where is all the activity? Wildlands filled it's world with people doing people things, albiet using generic NPC type behavior, but they did a nice detail on aspect and made the world more immersive. Did the developers give up on this critical component of game design?
In wildlands, civilian vehicles were common, so much so you actually needed to look both ways before crossing the road, after the alpha, invited Beta, and Open beta and now the full release I have yet to see a civilian car come down a road. Enemy cars, sure, but no civilian cars.
This is a buggy, lifeless, looter shooter mess of a game. I sure hope it improves and that this is just a result of a rushed release.
You are totally right. That has been said in several posts already. It feels empty.
Even the civilian AI in towns are just walking around and go into cover. No cars. No real travel. I wonder if they all have home-offices.
Would love to see kinda the same approach as in wildlands.
I agree with the point you make, the world outside of main areas and enemy specific locations is pretty dead, which is a shame as the map is pretty decent and looks great.
Without an inhabited open world there isn’t really much point in an open world, you might aswell just have missions In set locations.
Wildlands has a pretty decent feel as an open world and I’d hoped breakpoint would build upon this but unfortunately they decided to remove civilian life as a feature mostly.
While I agree, let me offer a counterpoint for the sake of debate. Auroa is under martial law from the Sentinel Corporation, and while I've never experienced marital law, it seems that most travel between towns, let alone simply travel in one's own town is heavily restricted. It's no longer the Auroa that Jace Skell dreamed of. It is a police state where the mercenaries in charge of the island are ordered to execute anyone who defies the martial law. Due to these circumstances, it would make sense that people are no longer comfortable being outside until order has been restored, hence the lack of people simply around the island. As for civilian vehicles, due to the increased military presence, civilian vehicles could have been converted into military ones to enhance Sentinel's capabilities. As I said, I agree with your thoughts, but these might be justification for the lack of civilian presence.
Completely, 100% Agree with this. I've said this since the 1st time I played the beta. How are all these people getting to work??!!? How do they eat, shop for things? The games does not attempt to sell any realism when it comes to civilians at all. A real shame honestly.
Maybe they can patch it in, but it should be a priority in my opinion. They should have various models of civilian cars, they should have buses that transport groups from residential complexes to the labs, etc..
The game has so many good things going for it, but much like Anthem, it seems like they had a deadline to put the game on the shelf and came nowhere near close to actually finishing. This game, as fun as it is, probably needed at least another 6 months of Development time to round out the full package. Possibly more.
Point well taken but I would still expect a higher density of people. I will still play the game, I just think it detracts from how the franchise progressed through to Wildlands.Originally Posted by w4r-s0ng_ Go to original post
That's probably the angle they are taking. But at the end of the day, the people don't live at the labs/offices/plants. They have to at least factor in some sort of bus system if they dont want to allow individual cars. Maybe include a convoy system with guards, military vehicle escorts.Originally Posted by w4r-s0ng_ Go to original post
Can anyone tell me how to revive a teammate with my field medic drone? My teammate goes down, and my meter is full I know to press RB + LB (playing on Xbox one) and my character releases his drone and I’ll hover my medic drone over to my teammate but then I don’t see which button to press to revive. I know in Wildlands In was by clicking the right stick in (R3 button) but breakpoint that is not working. Am I missing something else that I need to unlock like a syringe or something for my drone? Thanks in advance for the help!!
Definitely. The lack of people for an island with so many towns/villages/facilities breaks the immersion faster than Erewhon. As for the lack of vehicles though, I found this under the martial law section of Sentinel's page on the ghost recon wiki.
"It's forbidden to travel in the wild. All people discovered in the wild by a Sentinel Corp. patrol will be arrested.
If you need to travel to accomplish your task, Sentinel vehicles will carry you to your workplace.
If your task is in the wild, you will be escorted by Sentinel members.
All the autonomous vehicles (car, flyer & boat) have been deactivated until the end of the martial law. If you need to move for a medical issue you can ask to Sentinel Corp."
This at least explains the vehicles.
Marshal law usually mean more police and military presence everywhere and usually comes with a curfew (in Thailand it was 22:00-05:00, even if you're a trourist, I was in country at the time, even the police were accompanied by soldiers) but otherwise it's pretty normal.Originally Posted by w4r-s0ng_ Go to original post
Yep people need to get to work and eat, they could have easily have road traffice only and food truck from the dock and airport. But yeah...
