In my quest to find the worst character to duel with, put a few reps through shugo and just had a few ideas that would help
1) reduce HA on light opener
2) add HA to headbutt (it should work to ensure shugo can make a HA trade and secure that trade, instead he often gets hit out of it)
3) allow headbutt after the second heavy in the heavy heavy combo (uncharged)
4) Give instant HA to light attacks that are thrown immediately after a feint (similar to berserker but just at the normal 500ms speed)
5) More HP (should have a very large HP pool to trade with)
6) Remove heal on hug, increase damage to 30 (still regain stamina)
This allows more use of the whole kit and with the heal gone/increased hp you can focus on trading, like the big boi should be
You lost my vote at 1....cuz it's an opener.
...but I like the full HA feint light idea.
What if shugoki had his old light with his old guaranteed headbutt and it's stamina drain (600 ms) . ...Then add your feint full ha light to his kit (500 ms) .
This might give shug greater volnerabilty to chains but punish enemy mistakes pretty severely and be able to start his own chain and oos pressure enemy mistakes. Yes this would be a Nerf but it would balance out the chain fighting a bit. God help the enemy that gets parried though.
I've found the light is almost worthless as an opener, I leveraged a friend to spar briefly with me and managed to smack a top tier rep 70 machine berserker in the face for abit so the play I was developing seems solid (till he god tier deflected me a round and then the party got bored and I was ganked over the head haha)
Raw light should get HA at 400ms. This is enough to make light into light work, beyond that its worthless at high tier and abusive at low tier, given headbutt would carry instant HA thats where you can secure a trade properly and create your opener (headbutt is amazing...)
Its enhanced and with access to a fast HA followup you can reset back to a charging heavy or straight heavy that lets new things open, basically smacking their guard is my standard opener and it seems to do me well (heavy, delayed heavy, rarely light... gets parried unless hidden in a combo, hence that HA change to encourage combo mixup)
The problem is interrupt means nothing vs another HA user, the timing on the followups means you need to be early for your 600ms headbutt or a heavy to work, and repeating raw light is where I was getting caught. I know where I failed but this was one of the best on the platfrom I was testing an aggressive Shugo on it was my fault for not varying enough after something started working
Yea Berserker and hito are tough matchups for him....at least for me. I think he does pretty good with most other heros...probably to well. I miss his oos oni knockdown. Still I think he needs a very soft Nerf and a very soft buff to balance him out better with other heros.
The problem I see is his HA light needs to be nerfed but any Nerf to it makes his whole kit kinda useless.
Nerfing it by putting it behind a faint and giving him his old light headbutt at 500 ms or 600 ms with his old headbutt might create good back and forth without bullying other heros and without being totally bullied.
Over all it would be a Nerf though.
That light HA startup has to be nerfed for the health of the game, i was bad when introduced and opened the door for worse things to follow
Something does need to be done with the headbutt, either HA or like you say make it the old guaranteed one, at the moment its a non-mixup non-combo non-damage stunning tap that's slow

1 - His HA is fine on his light as you can bait it out and punish it hard with a free heavy on parry.
2 - He doesn't need HA on it, it needs to be faster, less punishable and a longer stun duration. It does no damage and just deals stamina damage and stuns. Currently its 600ms and an easy dodge, whenever i do dodge it i always punish with a free dodge attack if i have one, and even if it hits it doesn't further enable his mixup because it only lasts 400ms. It should be 500ms, have a 400ms block and gb recovery and have a 1500ms stun duration like every other stunning move.
3 - Would be nice for flow.
4 to 6 - He has enough HP, the heal is in theme with his trading style if used correctly. What does need to be nerfed is his HA on his heavy.
