I just started playing this game and I was getting a bit bored playing solo, so I tried some missions in coop. Everyone I matched with was about 500 item level, and killed even bosses in 1 shot. Is there any way to filter matchmaking so that I don't get these players?
The people I played with wouldn't even let me get a shot off on most enemies, and spammed their abilities to keep my armor topped off. I'm sure they thought they were being helpful but they completely ruined the experience for me. I don't want to have to start kicking these players out of my game.
So you were getting fast easy clears and just grabbing up gear that would catch you up to everyone, and you're complaining. Shut down the internet now I've seen everything.Originally Posted by RightThisSecond Go to original post
Couple things.
1. this is always how it goes when you start this far after a game launches. Gee I'm sorry other people have put in time to get gear they want for their builds.
2. Then don't Matchmake if you don't like. Expecting people, to what, carry around a gear level 300 set just so you aren't annoying is absolutely ridiculous.
Just enjoy the free gear, and probably the easy achievements o finishing missions without losing all your armor and gear up.
So I'm guessing what is happening is you're going up the world tiers and haven't reached WT5. What's happening is people are leveling up 2nd, 3rd, and 4th characters for whatever reason and they can bring their 500ish builds in to WT1 and up and just wipe the floor. While it might be annoying once you hit WT5 they can't do that anymore. Stick with it get to WT5 and things will be more even.
It's unlikely that bosses are getting one shot with group scaling. Gear score is a false positive at the moment, so no need to be intimidated by it.
But becoming bored of solo play but also despising playing in a group with players you perceive or anticipate to be OP, you're kind of eff'd if you can't accept either, to be honest.
Honestly, you're better off not playing the game, no offense.
Group scaling doesn't apply to going up the world tiers. I just did my 4th character, my first one after WT5 was a thing and I used a 499 build of mine. WT1, 2, and 3 I was more or less one shotting the bosses. WT4 took about a 1/4 of the magazine. He just started playing so I'm really confident that is what he's experiencing.Originally Posted by Merphee Go to original post
I really don't think this is how it usually goes, when leveling up in a game there is usually proper scaling, or you are matched with players similar to your own level. I'm just asking if there's anything I can do myself to prevent this, the people I played with were most definitely killing the bosses in a single shotgun or sniper shot.
My "complaining" (actually an honest question) really got under your skin though huh, even though I admitted I'm new to this game
The OP is simply trying to enjoy the game at their own pace, occasionally with another person who also wants to take the time to enjoy the scenery. You would be surprised by how many live and play games no more than 10 seconds at a time like it was the fast & furious.
In this forums' Suggestion & Feedback area, you can request they add a play style filter to match making.
There are people who play:
- serious (aka try hard) vs casual (we die no big deal, try again)
- gulp their food vs. smelling the roses
- tactical fighter vs. charge!
etc.
It could be like a 5-position slider for each category. For example:
very serious - serious - neutral - casual - cool cucumber
Game will try to match with serious but can still be grouped with casual and vice versa. You will never get a very serious matched with a very casual.
Dip side is also an issue, Matching with underpowered players isn’t enjoyable either.
I understand what the OP is saying thou. There’s players that like to experience the game and the pace it was designed to have. The way the shepherding concept is flawed in many ways. The system was for agents that are having trouble & need help clearing it. Idea is a good one, until it was noticed that only a few players answered calls for help So they introduce Shepherding endorsement. Cant encourage the selfish to preform a selfless act. Complete opposite intentions brought together... One that wants assistance the other just wants to get thru it for the endorsement. Players that don’t get shepherded & get left in back just trying to keep up don’t & won’t give their endorsement to those players. You don’t endorse what you don’t like.
Now a system is being introduced to give the endorsement automatically.... yeah it’s going to be worse for the OP and anyone wanting help unless you want it done for you then It’s perfect & with a guaranteed no wait time for 3 agents to drop in. Players will be scrambling to answer every call as fast as they can cause everyone else is answering to get them easy points.
It’s now a feature where your entire games content can be completed by other players.
The Lower level players want help, not everything done for them.
The higher level players want the Endorsement.
The power gap is so large my weakest pistol one shots everything but named bosses while the player that called has trouble using entire magazine. It takes a patient person to take a aback seat and let the pace be set by the one in need. Most of the time it’s a great time to check out all the detail in the levels design. I didn’t realize or notice that there were cockroaches let alone the level of detail & modeling cause they are actually crawling until the power gap got so large.
It needs to go back to how it was done before the shepherding was added.
I've been playing since launch and I know exactly what you're talking about here. There currently is a certain build that is truly OP and will clear a map before you can even fire a shot. In a few weeks when TU6/Episode 2 come out it should mitigate that build a little bit. But unfortunately there's no way to filter matchmaking.Originally Posted by RightThisSecond Go to original post
Good luck and welcome to The Division.
This is not what he is talking about, you can't one shot a boss with the build you're complaining about. Please don't bring discussions from countless other threads into another topic it isn't related to.Originally Posted by DarkKnight27us Go to original post
