    Weapon Thoughts

Not going to beat the looter-shooter dead horse, but I agree with everyone who is complaining about that. I'm focusing on the weapon stats themselves and the ammunition used in them to suggest changes to the game that would increase the "behind the lines" theme.

First, the weapon stats seem totally random. I mean, why does a G36C have a different rate of penetration than an M4? They're both carbines and both fire a .556 round. They should have the same-ish (if not identical) muzzle velocity which determines Velocity and Range. Barrel length can change velocity and range some, but not enough to justify extreme differences.

One big change in Breakpoint is that different guns are identified by their actual caliber, so not all assault rifle or sniper ammo fits all guns. Love this concept, but they didn't utilize it in two key ways. First, ammunition should be determinative of a weapon's velocity and range (with barrel length). So a CZ Scorpion and an MP-5 are going to have similar velocity and range stats because they both fire the 9mm. By contrast, the MP-7 fires a special 4.6x30mm caliber with a higher muzzle velocity and much higher effective range as a result. Second, ammunition availability should not be random. .556, .308, 9mm and .45acp should be abundant, while the previously mentioned 4.6x30mm should be harder to find. This would be in keeping with the "behind the lines" theme and make weapon choice based on scavenging of ammo from dead enemies a real consideration when choosing a weapon. You might rethink running with an MP-7 if you're going to be running out of ammo more often (and you shouldn't be able to change load outs at a whim - again, to increase the realism factor).

Finally, even though this game appears to take place many years into the future after Wildlands, other than the pistols there is little in the way of new weapons. The long-discontinued Magpul PDR is the "future gun." I mean they have the KelTec KSG, why not throw in the RDB or RFB. Both are bullpup rifles with innovative ejection systems and utilize polymer materials.

With respect to sniper rifles, the .50 cal models seem woefully underpowered. I was popping Heavies in the the head and having to do it twice to have any effect (this was while silenced, which, given the lone run and gun mode of the beta, is not unreasonable. At 200 meters or less a head shot with a .50 cal should be a kill.

Finally, weapon weight should have an impact on player speed and fatigue/stamina. If you want to haul *** up the mountainside to the Wolves Tiger base to merc everyone there (which is fun, I highly recommend it). Hauling a big .50 cal and/or a heavy LMG should make that task more difficult than hauling a lighter DMR in a .308 cartridge.

Okay, that is my two cents. Nobody with any input into the final game will likely read this, and I will be unlikely to buy Breakpoint. Here's hoping the next game fixes some of these issues.

I agree with you on the different ballistic for guns of the same caliber and barrel length, I made a post about it on my topic.
This just goes to say, a lot of people agree that ballistic's in game were poorly handled.
