Overall I enjoyed playing the Open Beta. Sure I encountered an occasional crash and some bugs but it didn't detract too much from a Beta play-through.
Some general thoughts:
- lack of AI squad could impact a lot of solo players. I believe it's been said that AI squad is being developed but this should have been a day one requirement?
- break camp mechanic felt a little clunky and was too slow
- lack of a drone tutorial, which new players might need. I was certainly confused how to use the medical drone to heal squad mates
- default key mapping changed from Wildlands e.g. deploy drone, change seat in vehicle. Why?
- can't easily prone camo on grassy rock outcrops so have to jump down to gain cover
- Azrael drone is just a bad game mechanic. The Wolves appear very fast. How? Can they teleport? Also, if you are trying to stealth a mission, this Azrael drone breaks gameplay as you have to prone camo or slug it out with the bad guys (plus it causes you to fail the One Man's Hell mission if you are spotted by an Azrael)
Bugs
- a squad mate had real sounds issues with guns and vehicles. They had to delete their entire game sound folder and re-download 3Gb
- One Mans Hell .. failed mission and now there are two circles on every target when you replay
- helicopter visual ... another player was sat outside the model on my screen, floating in mid-air
- night and thermal vision stopped working when using a drone and I couldn't get it back
- Sync shot kills frame rate in co-op, with frequent stutter. If you unmark the targets, the stutter disappears
I'll be interested to see what Beta bugs get fixed prior to release and how many linger on.
First impressions were good on the whole though.
