Feedback and Bugs from the Open Beta
I first want to say that I am really enjoying the game. I've seen a lot of people are disappointed with a lot of systems and mechanics (such as gear level and RPG/MMO aspects), but we know these probably won't change. They're not a dealbreaker for me, and I will still have a lot of fun even with these mechanics. What this is about is feedback on how the game needs to improve based on its open beta state, not a trash the game or unreasonable wish list post. I want to buy the game, but I'm not sure I will if most of these issues aren't resolved. I played on PC with extreme difficulty. If I state something that is incorrect please correct me.
[B][Most Important Issues to be Fixed/B]
- The switch-shoulder button doesn't work when behind cover, and it is quite unresponsive in general. It should be like Wildlands, in which it is smooth and responsive, even behind cover.
- Drone swarms were instant death and seemed to be unavoidable. This may have been a bug, but if not, this is ridiculous. I couldn't escape them in any way, whether on foot or flying, even with the on-screen warning.
- Enemy AI needs a lot of fixing. They have horrible vision and hearing, and they generally do not act in any logical way.
- When entering a building from the outside, it is often so dark that you cannot see inside, so you have to go in blind.
[B]Other Important Issues/B]
- The pilot entry (and maybe copilot) seat animation causes the character to clip in the door, and it does not look natural.
- When entering into PvE after playing PvP, all gun suppressors are off. They should be on by default or stay the same as the last PvE session.
- In PvP, suppressors on all guns are off by default, but they should stay the same as the previous round/PvP session. I prefer my pistol to always have a suppressor for shooting lights, and it is annoying to have to put the suppressor on it every round.
- When pressing space to hold breath while using a sniper, it takes way too long to initiate. It should happen the instant you press the button, not with the roughly 2-second delay it has now.
- When flying helicopters, it should be similar to Wildlands in that the mouse moves the camera, not steers the helicopter. There should at least be an option to turn this on if it's not on by default. I noticed a similar option in settings, something like "Control helicopter with mouse", which was off, but I believe that one refers to the pitch, not the camera.
Suggestions
- Make the night vision a little lighter. Currently, it is a bit too dark.
- In my opinion, moving around in Erewon is a bit of a pain. You should be able to sprint, or at least make the movement speed faster.
- I have looked around, and I don't believe you can holster all your guns at once like you could in Wildlands. This was great for photos, moving faster, and experiencing the world with the extended FOV it provided (I know you can change the FOV in settings, but it's better for combat to have it closer, and it would be repetitive to extend the FOV every time you're not in combat).
- As far as I know, each class unlocked also has a separate gear preset. I want to be able to change classes and keep the same gear, and when I change gear I want it to update for all my classes. Preset 1 could be the same across all classes instead of just that specific class, and other presets could still be used in the same way if desired.
- You should be able to go into PvP from the beginning menu like in Wildlands. Otherwise, you spend time loading in the PvE world just to go straight into PvP.
- The PvP scoreboard should have more information. I want to know kills, deaths, revives, assists, etc. Sometimes I don't even know if I got a kill because I didn't look at the kill feed in time and haven't been paying attention to my score.
Bugs, in no particular order of magnitude
- Lots of crashing
- The game often freezes for a few seconds, even when not loading in more of the world.
- The gun crosshair sometimes stayed on-screen when flying a helicopter.
- My character's hair and beard sometimes turned bright white when inside.
- After a few hours of playing, I was not able to deploy my drone in PvE nor PvP. I tried restarting the game and remapping the button, nothing worked. It was even still not working the next day, even after the PC was shut down and subsequently Uplay restarted.
- In co-op, as a passenger in a helicopter, the sound that plays when the pilot jumps out was playing when the pilot was still in the pilot seat and flying the helicopter.
- Often when opening blue chests the item I received would not show up on the HUD, so I either had to ask someone in co-op, look through my inventory, or not find out at all. I didn't have that part of the HUD off; the items showed on-screen with gray chests.
- In co-op while as a passenger in a helicopter, the pilot character floated behind the helicopter while the pilot was flying.
- The arrow displayed when behind cover that indicates which direction your character will aim at one point was displayed around my crosshair at the beginning of a PvP match when I was not behind cover.
- On multiple occasions, in PvE and PvP, shooting lights would not make them go out. They were different types of lights as well.
- On one occasion in PvP, everyone on the enemy team was eliminated, but the game did not end. My teammate and I were able to move around as normal, and we ended up both dying as the radiation leak covered the whole map.
- Sometimes when riding a dirt bike, the plane sound would play instead of the dirt bike sound.
- Sometimes when I equipped new gear in the loadout, it changed the appearance of my character even though skin override was on. If skin override is on, my appearance shouldn't change when I equip new gear.
Hopefully the devs see this and solve the vast majority of these problems. If they do, I believe this game would be fantastic and well worth the money.
