Suppressors make the game too easy

I thought about this with wildlands as well, I'm sure some people agree that suppressors make the game way too easy even on the hardest difficulty. It wouldn't be so much of an issue if the suppressors were implemented the way they actually work IRL (i.e. firearms not being completely silent when firing up to 100m away, anyone would notice a suppressed shot, unless it was like .22lr subsonic rounds.)

My point is, implementing suppressors for almost every weapon right off the bat makes me think the difficulty is way easier. I don't think suppressors should be completely taken out, but maybe become something you unlock after using the weapon a certain amount, or even a rare pickup for specific calibers.

I actually discussed this a while back in trying to figure out how developers could pair bullets (sub vs super sonic) and suppressors (louder moving towards quiet) and make a system that gives us a more realistic experience and a more in depth and fun experience. Check it out and drop a comment. How would you design a new system?

Alternately they could make supressors degrade with use. Say 2000rds for pistols and SMG, 1000rds for rifles and 300rds for sniper rifles. After its life is up it doesn't supress any sound and you have to get a new one.
Effectivenes could degrade as it get used too (to a minimum made up number of 30% effective) so you don't get that problem of perfectly working until the last rds.

But we all know its never going to happen. Too big a can of worms to open and doesn't fit the casual loot drop gameplay.

I approach the problem to force myself to have at least one weapon without a supressor. Works fine for me, but you're right. Straight from the bat it is really powerful to have supressors for each weapon you find.

Totally agree and it makes it really dumb right from the start of the game when you loot a pistol from a dead teammate.
Pistol which had no suppressor now instantly got it equiped

The game is insanly easy if you use suppressors. What I did try is not using them at all and basically tried to get close enough to eg. shot one in the head and the other one meelee...
if you disable whole HUD even crosshair then it start to make the game more diffucult and for me more enjoyable.

I would connect this to the loot, which is really really bad design from scratch. This system works for the division because it actually IS loot shooter by design But I wont be talking about it here as it is different topic

1st off, great video, subbed. If you want we could talk more about this in a discord if you have one! I would implement AT THE VERY LEAST a larger proximity of "shot heard" to the game.

Degredation does sound like a good idea, but I feel like that may be out of the question as you said. Seems too advanced for this kind of game. Although, what they could do, as I said above, fix the shots heard proximity and even add a limited number of sub sonic rounds which have less range/damage/accuracy to even the stats.

Yes, of course! Do you think you should gain an XP/Loot rarity bonus if you choose not to use a suppressor? I think so.
