8700k, 32GB Ram, GTX 1080 TI, 850W power supply feeding 1080 with 2 separate cables from power supply

had similar problems with my old radeon graphics card feeding the card via the same cable. then bought me a new card gtx 1080 ti read about using separate cables and did so, never had the freezing problems since...

until today playing the beta... is there an option to reduce the graphic cards usage when the environment is foggy, since especially in foggy environments the freeze seems to happen most often...
