don'T know anything about real life night vision - but currently the main issue isn't nightvision but that the moon and night overall is way to bright
when shutdown a generator and inside the now pretty dark buildings - it's ok - in my eyes a bit better than wildlands - but when outside the environment itself is so bright it makes the nightvision darker
so - i guess make the night a real night would might fix it

Just like others, the only NVG I am familiar with are the ones seen in games. I have never tried a real one in real life.
That said, I can bring one example in game that, for me, means quite a lot.
At some point, during a mission where you are looking for a specific character, you have to walk through a cave. It's quite dark there, but when walking inside I had a better time w/o NVG rather than w/ NVG, since that vision was too dark and made things even worse to see.
Thermal was useless there, but it's ok for that scenario.

I much prefer it to the closed beta but find it a little too dark unless you're in the dead of night. It's a little more 3 dimensional now which I like but yeah, just a little dark for me.

In closed beta the NV was like in most games, makes it green and you can look in the darker places. but in the open beta it just gave me a dark green tint and I couldnt see any difference, if anything it was harder to look in the dark. **** just got darker. Didnt work in the dark at all

They changed it after the last Closed Beta since the feedback (and quite right so..) pointed out that using it literally was like having a flashlight pointed straight into your eyes. So what did they do? They broke it even more. GG.

I actually hated the NV in the closed beta. It was way too bright for me. Without NV it was too dark, with NV it was way too bright. I was essentially blind or at least very impaired visually with either option. Also, NV was making my eyes hurt. So I stuck to seeing nothing in the dark rather than the pain in my eyes from NV.

I’ve never actually used NV in real life either.

I honestly don’t really remember what NV looked like on pc for the open beta cause at some point it stopped working for me. Logging out, closing game, starting it again, even restarting Uplay, didn’t work for me. I just couldn’t get it back.

As for NV in the open beta on ps4? I loved it. Such an improvement for me over the closed beta. It felt much more comfortable to my eyes. I used it during night maps on pvp too. Very useful there. I did play on a ps4 pro with a 4k tv with hdr enabled though. So I don’t know what it looked like without the hdr. I want to say that NV looked a lot alike on both ps4 and pc for me during the open beta. Can’t say for sure though. I barely got to use it on pc before it broke. I couldn’t be bothered to start a new character save to fix it.

I think it might be hard to satisfy everyone on issues like these, where everyone will have a preference and they may vary quite a bit. I certainly don’t envy Ubisoft when it comes to deciding things like this.

The current NV really isn't night vision, it's just a faded greenish paint over the screen that makes everything even worse.

I just wanted to say that, having been able to play the full game in early access now, NV is WAY worse on pc in the full game than it was on PS4 Pro in HDR during open beta IMO. It’s really dark and so blurry. I was really hoping it would look like it did on ps4.

I dont think you should be able to use Night Vision without equipping the goggles.
