Now, I know a lot of people were disappointed with the Wu Lin expansion. Personally I was a little too, not that I don’t enjoy playing as them but it just felt a little...lacking. In no way are the Samurai and the Wu Lin the same, but the Asian aesthetic and stylised attacks/equipment does tend to feel a bit samey even if it’s not, and I quickly found myself just jumping back into the old factions for some familiar carnage.

Thing is, I’ve seen a LOT of people suggest Mongolia or the Golden Horde. It’s a cool idea but not great for the game, considering both are well known for archery, horsemen or a combination of the two; not great for a game which is designed around close combat. Plus it’s Central Asia/Middle East (depending on the time) and I think we’re due a significant leap from the east, and into the far west.

Aztec’s.

Aesthetics - Diverse, in your face colours with very unique imagery and designs.

Time period - same as the Samurai, knights and Chinese (dates obviously vary but that’s a given anyway.) Regardless, they tick that box.

Equipment - if I can figure out how to post pictures of the weapons/armour/potential hero’s I will (I’m new to the forums, can you tell?) But in description: very unique and terrifying. Feathery aesthetics coupled with badass obsidian/wooden weapons that can easily split skulls in two, emphasis on Macuahuitl (Obsidian Axe clubs, google Aztec warrior and you’ll get spammed with this image) in both club and spear form. Slings for range and a host of other weapons as well as uniquely stylised shields.

Potential hero’s - A host of awesome and ferocious fighters, ranging from jaguar warriors to quetziquoatle fanatics. High priests and panther assassins. I could go on but you get the point, if you’re looking for lots of potentially customisable and badass hero’s, you’ve found them.


Possible issues though:

Lack of armour - Search for Aztec warriors and oh boy you can see just how customisable and personalised you can make them look, but armour? Long loin cloths and jaguar skins aren’t exactly protective so, possibly an issue. I’m not too savvy on if the Aztecs had genuine armour or not, if anyone knows feel free to message!

Other than that I can’t think of any genuine issues, I’m loving this idea. Feel free to leave messages with your own thoughts on this potential new faction! If you can think of any other great benefits or issues they might have then leave them down below!
