Serious question here. Valk is the only non Jorm or Hito hero that I basically never win against. I've even managed to figure out how to beat Shugoki once in a while. I even started playing a Valk to see if maybe there was some weakness that she has. If anything, anything at all, it's dodge attacks, and even then, only on the sweep. The specific problems I have are the sweep, the damage of a heavy off the sweep, and the soft feintable heavies, also the deflect on light attacks, and the bleed on shoulder stab, and the blind on the boar hunter, or whatever the stunning shield bash finisher is called, so basically her whole kit. I know, I know, you can't neutral bash so the hero's kit is worthless, right? Seriously, though. Someone justify this hero to me, because most of the answers I get are lack of control, which is odd considering the AOE sweep that's accessible with two light attacks or a GB, or lack of neutral bash, but you can soft feint heavy into bash, so I don't buy that either.
You block one of her lights it shuts down the chain. You might not be able to get as much easy damage on her now with her recovery times being buffed, but her sweep is easy to dodge if not the best punished anymore. Her play style is in a burst of attacks that are pretty easily shut down. Most valks almost always go for her one 400ms light on top. Get used to parrying that and you can chunk a good 1/4th to 1/3rd of her life depending on who you play. The sweep is only guaranteed off a wall splat from gb, and is a waste of stamina anyway. Just dont get sucked into her pace and you'll do fine.
Yes she's annoying to fight, but entirely beatable. Maybe consider what characters you usually play with? they may be particularly vulnerable to Valkyrie's kit (I've found that characters/players who have a highly defensive strategy are usualy more likely to get caught in her mix ups. Her light attack combo's can all be interupted by simply blocking one of them, and the sweep after three lights is highly dodgeable (just spam ur dodge button after the third strike lands).
Also, dont try to block her heavies, they dont come out quick enough to punish a dodge, and dodging the heavy will also dodge the soft feint into shoulder bash 90% of the time (should she choose to go for it). Remember feints are your friends.
I hope that helps you take her down next time.
We have to be careful about using the term OP in this community because it looses its value if we give the title to any character thats "annoying to fight"
Lets come together and agree that hitokiri is mega OP.....
and
Lastly.. Orochi light spams can slob a nob. That is all. Thanks
Long story short, an enhanced version of her old kit but she can keep the sweep punish and side light finishers.Originally Posted by UbiYubble Go to original post
Honestly, I'm not entirely certain, myself. My problem is that with everything she has if I try to switch tactics to fight more effectively, the Valkyrie has tools to counter what I do, with no apparent downgrade in efficiency. I feel like the hero suffers from too many options. Like the bleed, why does the hero need a bleed? Why is that even there? The Boar Hunter, I think the shield bash finisher is called? Why are we putting stamina pressure and blind on top of all the other utility? For that matter, why do other heroes with shields not do that? My problem isn't even just what Valkyrie CAN do, it's what other heroes CAN'T do. It feels, to me, like Valkyrie isn't fettered by artificial limitations like some other heroes. As far as concrete suggestions? If I were Lead Designer or whatever for a day. I'd say make the Boar Hunter finisher either a shield bash like any other or just a normal light attack. Alternatively, give other shield users similar attacks. More realistically; make the heavy follow-up from sweep do 30 damage, maybe consider removing the bleed from shoulder pin. As far as what she should get instead? I mean, my problem is with all the options she has, it's beyond my ability to say what should be given, here. It's tough for me (especially as someone who loses far more against the hero than other heroes) to look at the hero objectively.Originally Posted by UbiYubble Go to original post

First of all this is clearly a git gud problem. I mean Valk is factually nothing too difficult to deal with. I would suggest you to train.
On console she is not a problem and she is even nothing on PC.
Bleed ? Do you realize these bleed only come from her deflect ? And anyway a bleeding target change nothing for Valk. It just open some coordination options with heroes like Nobu or Shaman. But Valk is anyway a bad pick if you are looking for a heroe able to apply bleed.
Sweep dmg is 100% fine considering its easy to Dodge on reaction, punishable by dodge attack/zone etc, sweep ally and doesnt ignore revenge anymore.
You talk about "options" for a heroe which have useless zone for fighting purpose, not a single UB attack, no HA at all, the most broken full Block, bad Dodge attack and so on.
What are these crazy options which makes her able to outplay people or defend no matter what you do when she literally has nothing else than a 13dmg bash which come from a heavy feint and decent lights which means nothing on PC and are entirely possible to deal with on console if you keep blocking top and side reacting ?
Her side light finisher stun and drain stam yes, but this is a 12dmg 500ms light ... 12 dmg man.
Till last patch she has the lowest light parry of the game since lunch, her CC dmg are below average, i believe only BP one are lower.
The fact you have a problem with Valk does not mean she is OP, she is at best average.
So instead of asking for nerf, ask for advice and try to improve since as your title says nobody else think she is OP.
