Thread on upcoming Wu Lin hero

I’m thinking close to an imperial guard for the emperor but I can’t place where or what time it could be put at. I’m not educated very well on what time or dynasty the original wu lin hero’s are based either.

    I have a name :
JINYIWEI, from loose research means robed warrior or guard , and they were close to Ming dynasty. Again this falls back on my lack of general knowledge in that history. ( would post pic but I’m on phone )

But I’m not sure that’s the correct name for what I’m thinking of. The tiandi were originally the emperors guards then exiled if I remember correctly. So let’s say they are the basic champions and the Wu Lin emperor ( assuming by this next season, with leaked wu lin map ) now in power since the Wu Lin placed a foot hold on the war, who will replace the tiandi?

Every single of the Wu Lin are in a position of power or title. Tiandi: former guard that were exiled, Shaolin: renowned monks who are/ were very low on numbers due to civil war , Jiang Jun: the generals of the army and finally the nuxia: dancers and agents that are very talented in using hook swords.

So with that being said the next wu lin hero being a heavy with a Jian? Correct me .. could be the replacement for the tiandi in the new wu lin era as they solidify themselves as a power here in the war? What position of power would these guards or warriors hold?

    Thoughts?

I'm thinking the new Wu Lin hero is apart of the Chinese Imperial Guards.

I doubt it would happen but if he is an Imperial Guardsman he would also come with the Emperor in tow so now the Wu Lin finally have a leader and they get territory on the map with the purple and golden dragon banner.

I don't think so, we have been told and reassured several times over that every hero this year was going to be a heavy. However they may not play like one. BP and Hito I can say for sure are a heavy themed character. Jorm not so much. He's about as hybrid or vanguard as a heavy can get. I do think that this upcoming Wu Lin hero is gonna a have a dodge attack as is customary with the other warriors of that faction. I'm saying the imperial elite guard because I cant think of any other "power position" that can be a heavy in the faction.

Oh hey, that's exactly what I found as well a while back, the Jinyiwei thing. They were like the "secret police" of the Ming Dynasty, right?

I speculate the Wu lin hero will either be the emperor's personal bodyguard or a type of general.

I've talked to other people about the Wu Lin hero and the potential of the Wu Lin joining the faction war next season.

I'll stick to my "personal bodyguard"/"secret police" thought as I think the Wu Lin's commander will most likely be "the emperor".

I saw on reddit a picture of what is allegedly the weapon rack of the Wu Lin heroes which was apparently teased in a Warrior's Den so that makes me believe the Chinese will join the war.

Edit: I'm really curious how they will play. They are my most anticipated harbinger. Also from what I could see in the short clip, the new map looks awesome

I’ll stick to that too. Personal guard, police, or elite force for now. I don’t think general. That would kinda faze out the JJ. I don’t think the commander will be the emperor. None of the other commanders are real power players to our knowledge.

Well the two versions I’ve done research on, one is heavy cloth, the other is literally a mountain of heavy chain mail and plate. So that’s a wild card. Remember why they didn’t do hito real heavy gear is because of how she moves with her kick and sweep.

I’m not sure yet on play style. But my money is on a dodge attack since none of the Wu Lin lack one.

Why does everyone think its a chinese based character when the teased weapon is a korean based straight sword?

Because the outline of the hero seems to have a very similar outfit as that of a Jinyiwei

Probably due to lack of education or understanding. I don’t know enough about the sword to even say it’s a jian. No one has a solid answer that has been backed up and/ or widely accepted I’ve seen ever since the weapon was shown off.

Even then it would be cool. But would a Korean warrior be like how the romans are to the knights?

We’ve only really seen a separate group in the romans. The dlc neck beards are all “outsiders” but it fits with the whole atheistic and expected from Vikings.

The samurai have generally kept to themselves as a faction ( which makes sense ) maybe with hito being a little different because iirc they are simply assimilated executioners with a mindset.

And unless the new Wu Lin hero is indeed either Korean or mongol etc , then we can safely assume that they will fall in line with the others. The Wu Lin arnt spread out enough and are even still dealing with infighting until told otherwise. They also came as a straight army. They have no foothold until we get that dedicated map or faction to them.

A jian mostly got a double edged blade but the sword what is shown for the new hero got a one sided blade and a hi and thats what makes me sceptical about the chinese aspect.

The Wu Lin have been introduced as mercenaries if i remember right and china had a lot of influence in korea when it comes to clothing and religion so why not get a korean mercenary.
