But what is the functionality of unblockables? to not be blocked? you can parry them already... deflect have already the same imput as the parries, and I think that it make more sense if you are able to deflect an attack that is suposed to be unblockable more than to be able to... well... block it XD
parrying an attack means you are countering the force of the blow by using techniques of maneuverability or using a greater force. Deflecting does not really exist in real life although you could say it's not impossible. It's like a Mikiri Counter. In real life you wouldn't step on a sword to disarm the opponent but it's not out of the equation. The way they deflect in game is they slide their blade across the weapon of the opponent, that is just a simple block, no techniques, just simply blocking while moving.Originally Posted by TicioQ Go to original post
back on the subject, i still think unblockables have to remain parry-related. deflecting them would be unrealistic and it would make the attack more unreliable
still way closer to realism than Mortal Kombat or Street Fight. So I think we can have a couple anime stuff here and there and a couple meme executions and effects, but beating a trained warrior that weighs 300 pounds that is said to possess the strength of an ancient demon by simply sliding your little PK knife across his massive Kanabo can't really be a thing (talking about Shugo here)Originally Posted by AmonDarkGod Go to original post
Yeah, I understand the realistic point of view, like I hate when I try to speak to a real shaolin monk and he teleports away...
but beside jokes, I think it could be interesting because I really don't see how deflect may be used instead of parry, and so assassins are in a very weak spot right now (low health, no faster than the heavy, they limited the jump backwards, etc).
Apart that I really think that is most realistic to deflect (to slide through the weapon) that to block what is unblockable.
Also, the timing is the same, it would be another way to avoid these attacks for a little part of the roster. and is not a threat to the charactes with unblockables. I mean, if you parry you get a heavy attack or a grab and you punish stamina, with deflect you get an attack and sometimes not even that depending on the character.
