So, where to now, Ubisoft?
For Honor has officially entered the realm of Fantasy with the introduction of the Ragnarok event.
Previous events could be very easily explained as Non-Canon. Apollyon's Ghost still haunting this world with other characters (some of whom are probably still alive), Hitokiri's ghost village, the Halloween stuff. All of that happened outside of the actual war itself. The only one that came close previously was Black Prior's Riposte where Vortiger was teaching the Knights a new method of fighting, and the sky turned red. Not the most fantastical thing.
But the newest event, Wrath of Jörmungandr has straight up introduced a giant lightning breathing snake into For Honor. We had hints of it in the fact that Storr Stronghold has a skeleton of one of them hanging between rock spires with its skull resting in the final area. And now, the Vikings have called upon it as an actual tactical Defense to repel a Knight push into Viking territory. This has inserted the fantasy directly into the 'Main Game' of For Honor.
So... what now then? If the supernatural exists, then does this mean that Shinobi actually teleports a few feet instead of it just being a minor break from reality for the purpose of gameplay? Is Shaolin's ability to teleport across entire castles actually canon? Did Hitokiri actually wreak such havoc that an entire village is now haunted? Is the Myre an actually fantastical land where the land shifting is more than just unusual plates?
and more importantly, what do you plan to do with this? Will you just drop it and not truly acknowledge it ever again? Or will the Wu Lin hero bring in even more of the supernatural?
Either way, color me intrigued.
