You used to be able to do this in OTT2 but I'm pretty sure it was just a bug. When you unequipped your backpack the weapon on your back would disappear. So you could run around with just the sidearm in its holster and your main gun in your hands. I wasn't able to replicate that behavior in the CB.Originally Posted by igrvks Go to original post

I was wrong with my previous statement. Apparently not equipping a secondary weapon is like equipping a weapon with a gear score of 0 as far as overall gear score calculations are concerned. SO unfortunately, yes, you'd be actively gimping yourself if you don't equip a secondary weapon.Originally Posted by Auron1_TLM Go to original post
Dunno how that influences progression, it's hard to make a definitive statement given that the max GS for an item in the beta was 42 and I didn't manage to get my overall GS above 40.
hypothetically, if you don't equip a 2nd weapon, yes your gearscore will be lower, but what does that mean gameplay wise. If you are level 150 armour and have equipped a level 150 primary weapon and no secondary, will you be any less effective against level 150 wolves in regards to taking and dishing damage out? because you have a lower overall gearscore because you only have only 1 weapon equipped?
Would be kind of stupid if you were less effective.
Yes, that would be correct. The way it works right now is the lower your GS compared to your enemies the more damage they deal and the less damage they take.Originally Posted by stobbsy1 Go to original post
For what it's worth a headshot is lethal regardless of GS difference. I was able to take out the wolves at the beginning of the game (after the cutscene with Walker and Weaver) without needing to reload the starter assault rifle both in the OTT2 and in the Closed Beta. Also took out the behemoths later on while they vastly outleveled me. It's not an impossible task, you just have to play more carefully. Should be stated though that the behemoths are very spongy when taklng them out at lower levels..
AFAIK, the stuff you can find is level-based. In an hypothetical scenario, even if you could still find lv. 150 stuff, your general level would still stop at lv. 131.Originally Posted by stobbsy1 Go to original post
Which means you are still below lv. 140
