We need leaderboards for each bike. With the diversity of bikes we have, each should have there own leaderboards. There are many tracks in career and TC that have more than 1 bike allowed. There are so many mantis/rhino on the leaderboards. Some bikes are never used other than in contracts, and early in the game.
I like to use other bikes for a fun challenge, especially the Donkey. For this reason, when I create a track, I allow any bike that I am able to complete the track with. This way players can replay the track with other bikes, for a different experience, and often more fun with the challenge.
Having bike leaderboards would add more competitive gameplay and give players more top slots to aim for. I just think it would be a great addition to the game.
Anyone have any thoughts on this? Would you like to see leaderboards for each bike?
Yes, it's a no-brainer. It was obvious from day one with the Helium and Donkey, and even more obvious with the new bikes added. This would increase engagement too as it would give players more reasons to replay tracks with different bikes rather than just the "best" one.
TC should also allow a filter for bikes, so people can easily find tracks that are designed for shopping trolley only, donkey only, etc.
You'd think somebody at RL might have thought of this? They already have dozens of leaderboards, it can't be that hard to add surely?
+1 i have been talking to Trials friends for years about this. Just make it in-game tracks of course. Track central does its own leaderboard thing anyway with the tracks that you can only use 1 on. I would even pay for it if there was a way to make it happen. I will post al link to the thread on twitter to see if more come on and have there say.
I like to see it on TC tracks as well. As I stated above, tracks I make have any bike that is capable of completing the track allowed for use. I like to see where each bike would stand on the leaderboard. 99% of the time leaderboards would only be a mantis or rhino. I know they are the best choice for fast times, but sometimes even other bikes deserved a little time in the spotlight. Otherwise, why even have other bikes? We need competition for all bikes, not just 2 in general.
If that is the case, then I might as well make multiple versions of 1 track. Each allowing 1 bike. But that would be a waste of space on TC just to have a version for each bike. I just don't see the complication in having separate leaderboards for each bike. They can keep the main leaderboards, just add new ones for each bike. Not much different than having a global and regional leaderboard if you ask me.
It's a great feature pretty much everyone wants, but it would multiply their leaderboard storage by, what, EIGHT now? Plus again for every added bike, across the main game and track central. That's a lot of data to manage, especially when you remember that they store a replay with each time. I can understand why RL would call it infeasible. They already offer a ton of storage for every Tom, Dyck, and Persephone to post their personal run on each of the bazillion tracks in the game, when they could easily winnow that down to the top X% and everyone else just gets split times or even just participation (so that they know how many "top X%" actually is).
If people want this. they probably need something that could get done...
You can probably see where I'm going with this...
Yep, transient player-made contracts with their own leaderboards attached. This offers players most of the engagement and play benefits of full leaderboards, but the storage is kept down to just however many contracts are "live", without needing to build new leaderboards with fields for each bike or have a massive storage hit with every bike they add.
There's a lot that could be done with this, as I've written out elsewhere.
