His weaknesses are fine, but there's 1 huge problem to him. He has 0 counterplay to somebody rolling away on him. The best he can possibly do is to preemptively start dashing in with offense stance before they even start rolling away from you and then possibly getting a 10 dmg offensive light that may be blocked. Any slower on reaction and they get away from you for free, to either decide to keep fighting or run to some other objective. Not even a cancelled offense stance into celtic curse is fast enough to punish them for doing this, not even preemptively.. also you can't feint offense into gb, roll away still wins. I'd like some arguments against me or some idea of counterplay on how to overcome this. Suggestions please lol
Actually, opponents can not keep rolling back to run from highlander, because it will drain their stamina.
For Celtic Curse, there are lot of mix up to counter opponents who likes to run away, parry, block or dodge
For Celtic Curse, you can not Spam many times since the opponent will learn it quite fast. You can launch celtic curse from Balors Might, then hard feint into celtic curse. Opponent who try to parry or dodge the Balors Might will get hit from Hard Feint of Celtic Curse.
If Opponent like to Parry your Celtic Curse, you can do mind games by do the Celtic Curse into Fomorian Kick or light Attack. they can parry the Fomorian Kick. if they like to Dodge, then you can do Celtic Curse cancel to left or right.
Please be noted, Celtic Curse right is 500 and left is 600, by combine this, the opponent who like dodging also can be confused.
The combination of Celtic Curse:
1. Celtic into Fomorian Kick (if they like to parry)
2. Celtic into Caber toss
3. Celtic into Balors Might
4. Celtic Soft Feint of combination 1,2,3
5. Celtic into Light Attack
6. Celtic into Top
7. Celtic Into Left/Right
8. Celtic into Cancel Left/Right
9. Celtic into Balors Might, heavy cancel and Celtic Curse again (If they like to Parry and Dodge)
10. Celtic Curse, heavy feint then Celtic Curse again.
By looking at this Celtic Curse, play around with your opponent and combine it smartly. They will get confused and destroyed.
Because the Hit damage from Celtic Curse is so high, compared to what they can hit you from light attack or parry attack.
In Dominion, i also often to fight opponent only from Defensive stance to Combination of Celtic Curse and win a lot.
This is all false pressure. They don't need to keep Rolling away. 1 dodge into roll away is all that's needed to disengage you completely. You can't effectively punish a roll away for reading them correctly for using such an option. That's the issue. Yes they use stamina but you also use stamina if you rely on a celtic curse chase that doesn't guarantee a punish for the correct read. You only get a possible chance at it for reading it. It 's flawed lol I would never use highlander in serious matches.
Baylors might feint into celtic curse immediately is a half your stamina 25 dmg punish. And if they roll from baylors feint then yes you can punish roll but paying attention to the unblockable attack that can be parried and the kick that can't be parried is really easy to see coming. In duels this is different since stamina plays a more important factor. BUT objective based games that require speed and mobility to get around the map. He's heavily flawed and requires an allys assistance almost always to stop the opponent from disengaging for other objectives.
Check Training Tactics, its only one option listed , but Highlander Feint into a roll / or dodge counter Forman Kick / feinted to Caber Toss. I picked up Highlander becasue im a KB/Mouse controls and every other hero seemed diffcult before keybinding changes.Originally Posted by RenegadeTX2000 Go to original post
If your refering to a hero just getting scared and rolling away without any combat engagement , thats just normal movement and repositioning. If your both locked, Highlander cant be rolled away if you see it about to happen or against a dodge based hero.
Hybrid Tactical Fighter, but will be slow against about every hero except charged heavy attacks. Stay in offensive form to counter dodges, of course BE REALISTIC if its clearly out-of-range, dont call it a flaw.
But no, your not countering a roll/dodge that is already happening, COunters have to happen at same time or right before to be called a counter. This game is wacky like that along with this game fine tuned wacky timing, some moves just dont seem right or are to fast to get timings correct.
You can pull this off and still have the game think the counter didnt happen, even though all moves happened, your not fast enough. This is probably why you never see Highlander countering dodges or even seen it happen.
Get to Training Tactics for Highlander. Sorry i dont remember which page of the tactics its on. Most veteran players know to stay far back , your not going to have a "easy time" with that, and will probably be enough for you to chose another hero, I know i did. 4 others LOL
