Please tell me why Ubi hates shinobi so much.

I’m just a bit furious that Ubi removed shinobi’s smokeless dash. First, the nerf that put shinobi in the ground, and now this one sent him straight to hell.

The smokeless dash was probably the only viable way to kick people other than the guardbreak mixup or the quad dash(thank god they left that in the game). Now shinobi is just plain useless. I guess he’s been that way ever since the first nerf, but now they are nerfing his only viable move left.

Shinobi has had a lot of unforeseen issues following the first nerf. For example, shinobi now has a sort of stutter following a front roll after an uncharged ranged heavy, rendering him not able to parry an attack immediately following it, or mix it up into a guardbreak. Guardbreaks on shinobi following his backflip now bounce off, enabling the enemy to counter if the shinobi cannot guardbreak quick enough, so his max punish doesn’t particularly work anymore. You also can’t delay the ranged guardbreak anymore so you can’t wait for the enemy to attack and then guardbreak them if they attack before you finish the animation, also guaranteed that bots couldn’t counter it.

I honestly can’t believe Ubi has not announced some sort of rework, shinobi hasn’t gotten very much in the past couple months. He’s gotten I-frames that barely work and a counter guardbreak if they block a ranged attack point blank. That is literally everything.

So, let me just show you how unviable shinobi is now. No hyper-armor of any sort, so he can just be attacked out of his kick, no kick mixups other than quad dash & double dash guardbreak, a safe move that does the opposite of keep the character safe if he punishes the enemy correctly, and a combo in which he cannot recover fast enough to counter an enemy.

Now, I know Ubi hates the character to the extreme and would rather die than read this post, but I just want shinobi to not be ****. You have characters like raider and jorm running around, overpowered as hell, and Ubi decides to put shinobi further in the ground. What the hell, Ubi? I don’t understand why.

I understand that some of these things like the smokeless dash were unintentional, and were therefore bugs and needed to be fixed. But that’s not the issue. Shinobi should have been fixed, not nerfed.

Thanks for the good experience while it lasted, Ubisoft, can’t wait for the next shinobi nerf and the buff that makes raider’s stunning tap unblockable.

Your post pretty much sums up why I stopped playing For Honor; they nerfed the Shinobi to such an unreasonable extent that I lost interest in playing the game and lost confidence in their ability to properly balance heroes. We were all expecting them to rework the Shinobi, but instead they nerfed the Hero into the ground without any compensation. The way Shinobi was treated in Patch 2.11 is possibly the most crippling nerf in the history of this game.

Hopefully, they fix this mess eventually so that we can regain interest in using this hero.
Right now, there is no incentive for players to invest time and money in building up their Shinobi skill and accessories.

Because the hero had mystical abilities that no other hero had and virtually zero counter play from half the cast. Anything they did was going to feel like an ultra-nerf. How's that for a reason?

Virtually zero counter play? A statement like that has more to do with your own skill level struggles and less to do with the actual game mechanics. Mystical abilities that no other hero had? Every hero has unique abilities, just look at the Shaman's bite or the Shaolin's teleport or the Black Prior's bulwark.

You're the prefect example of a player that has a one-sided bias against the Shinobi without providing legitimate assessments.

Oh, so an assassin with hyper armor, a hero who could hit you from off screen, and then run away so effectively that literally NO ONE could catch them? Talk about biases. After taking stock of the complaints by Shinobi players, my assessment is that the hero was horrifically OP and now they're more or less in line with other assassins, excepting the zerker. I get that in your favorite anime and historical propaganda they are invincible super warriors, but not everyone wants to play that. So out of consideration for the rest of the player base, maybe you could accept that you're going to lose once in a while?

Now you do make some of a valid point. Shinobi was frustrating to fight and their capability to participate in a fight without actually being there or being able to be stopped was annoying. He could throw heavys and guardbreaks off screen and then just double sprint away when you tried to geek the little ****. BUT...this last nerf was a little heavy handed and should have had a decent look at before deployment, much like everything they do but eh...the shadow nerf to backflip was uncalled for, as now it is just a give your opp a free light button. The removal of hyper armor on SOME things was ok, but not all of them. The kick should have been sped up if it lost hyper armor, as it stands it is too slow to punish most things. While some of the complaints are a bit overblown, they do have some basis in reality.

TL;DR, i'll give you an answer to your title instead.

shinobu not only uses superpowers in a game with a medieval setting where people fight with sword and board, he also had a playstyle of staying out of range basically being untouchable and only throwing out SAFE attacks resulting in really long fights until one of them GAVE UP. imagine creating a char like this after stating you want to remove "turtle meta".

oh and for some reason they decided to give him range attacks, wtf was that about

Clearly you don't speak at all from the perspective of 1v1, so your opinion is inherently flawed, For Honor is more than just ganking on 4v4 maps. I personally spend more time in duels so all of that nonsense about off screen attacking is irrelevant.

The long ranged GB isn't effective in 4v4 after Patch 2.11, particularly since it fills up the opponents Revenge Meter at an expedited rate among other changes, you're talking about old news. Even if you're lucky enough to get a Long Range GB without activating the opponent's Revenge Meter, 9 out of 10 times your GB will get interrupted by your own teammates because they usually don't wait for you to start Sickle Rain.

People that say Long Range GB is still a problem are either lying or they are exaggerating.

They made him too slow he should be faster

Historically.... the ninja were the most successful assassins in all of the world. It would make sense realistically that they were the best assassin. Yea they run away, but wouldn't you if you had the lowest health of ANY character in the game ? And all your close range moves are predictive as f#$k. He should be quicker than all other characters. He is a friggin ninja. theres a reason he is the assassin out of all the other assassins in the game who is in movies and games right now. He was the best. The ninja is the best assassin in history. He should be best out of all other assassins in this game. Nobody should be his equal in the assassin category. Plus he is a hard character already to use. Now he is just impossible to use.

    Also

I am pretty sure they slowed his double sprint down. I double sprint after people while a teammate is right next to me doing the same thing. For some reason lately, it just seems like im going as fast as other people sprinting.

If they are going to take so much from the shinobi; why not give him abilities to assist in his CQC.

Like why not make him the first For Honor character with two weapons ?

Give him a sword so that he can be more unpredictable and stop being guard broken because his heavies are all ranged attacks.

You can literally be 3’ from someone; throw a heavy, and they still guardbreak you.

Another thing... if someone is out of stamina; how can they guard break our ranged heavies ? I just think that is a little stupid.

In conclusion... ubi has slowed the shinobi down too much. Its stupid.
