I like the Idea of looting, because remind me of good movies like Red dawn, the Idea that any of your gear will have to come from the rebels that looted it from the enemy, and that you can do it too, kind of like MGS V where you can pick up any weapon from the enemy (With an upgrade that, while in MGS you lose that weapon after returning to the chooper, in GRBP you can keep it and do whatever you want with it), really didn't liked the tiered system, I didn't liked that an Hk 416 with the same barrel lenght as the 516 and the M4 have different (Damage), they use the same caliber, the same thing applies to almost all pistol's in 45 or 9mm, the FNX have a 5.3" barrel while the 1911 have a 5" and somehow have 7 more points in damage then the previously mentioned one.
Also disliked the fact that the pistol's don't hold true to their rate, 500 rounds a minute means it can shoot 8 rounds a second (Which is fairly realistic with a lot of practice you can see people like garand thumb and kagwarks) but you are lucky if you can shoot 3 or 4 shots a second, rifles are also pretty slow too, just slightly faster than pistol's.

I'd be fine with the looting if it were done less randomly, and if there were no tiers. It would make sense to pick up a dead enemy's M4, or a 416, from next to his corpse, then upgrade it over time. Or to raid a sentinel/wolves armory. What doesn't make sense in the context of a franchise that claims it's about immersion and realism is to kill a guy who is carrying an M4A1 with an EOtech, and he drops a M82 in a six foot tall column of iridescent purple light that magically makes you a better medic, and a faster runner.

There is a lot to like in this game, but there are just so, so, so many missteps. They had to know these looter shooter elements weren't going to be received well by the majority of Ghost Recon fans. Otherwise they'd have advertised them as features, rather than keeping mum about them and letting youtubers and gaming influencers discover it and leak it during their closed door demo sessions back at E3.
