Guys, seriously
the eating cut scene could be much better. It looks like my character is eating raw meat with dirty hands ( a nice way to get food borne illness like Trichinosis) . Why not have him roast the food over the fire that is in front of him. Also, why are we killing animals, seems like it would be an issue we can avoid by obtaining food from the homesteaders since they are stocked by Samuel the hunter.
IMHO its bad form.
Since you are talking about diseases, I used to study nutrition in college, he is eating only protein, he will most likely die within few weeks from a heart attack, due to the lack of carbs.Originally Posted by Trader137 Go to original post
Actually he will die of dehydration due to diarrhea diseases due to any number of pathogens like (salmonellas, E Coli, C Def, Shigella, Staph Aureus, Listeria... Well before a lack of carbs. If he survives all of that to leave the island, he will die of Trichinosis years later if left untreated from eating wild pig.
check the cut scene, he pulls out a pan with raw meat in it then pulls out a juicy piece. eats it then shakes the juice off his hands. Definitely isn't MRE. He will definitely die doing that since he isn't observing any of the usual and customary methods of preventing food contamination
Well, yeah, but since you've already addressed the problems of eating raw meat, I've addressed the fact that protein only diet, would leave him unfit for combat duties.Originally Posted by Trader137 Go to original post
Further more, if he is not eating things like, fruits, vegetables etc, he hardly would be consuming enough vitamins, for example severe deficiency in vitamin A can leave you blind.
Ever hear of Cobra Gold? Crazy stuff right there, even our Team Doc will hold us back as anxious Marines go forward to drink the blood of beheaded reptiles. Marines are some crazy so and so folks let me tell you.
Have you ever played grosser than gross? Do you stick squarely to the “5 second rule?”
Why does it have to be raw meat, for all we know it could be SPAM or another meat-like substance.
The game isn’t about realism here, we aren’t talking SERE stuff we’re talking some creators idea for getting you bonuses for your character. I have dropped food on the ground, my boot, on the hood of a vehicle or on a tire and if it is still there when I am done and nothing to scary is crawling on it I am going to eat it.
Besides they give you tones of protein bars and other supplements in this game you can create while in bivouac. You’re more likely to die because your character doesn’t stop when you want it too and you go two more steps over a cliff and fall or slide amazing distances.
Samuel the hunter is another thing. We can tell the homesteaders their buddy died fighting Russians but can’t warn them not to take meat from Samuel who is a firm believer Soylent Green is People? (Cannibals, why do so many cannibals find their way into these games.)
We don’t have iodine or water purification pills but we’re encouraged to top off our canteens in every stream and puddle, there are rabbits and birds and bore hogs everywhere you are not going to die anytime soon. As long as a plant doesn’t secrete a milky white substance they’re normally safe for consumption.
Healthy amounts of bugs and fish. Do you want them to have the guy hold his tin over the fire and have a sizzle sound effect added so you can say you cooked the meat?
Maybe you just wanted to post to feel part of the feedback.
We've all learned to do these things in MS, these situations are taught for emergencies, if you can have a safer source of food and water you should always prioritize those, at least this is what they teach us here in Brazil, and I don't believe my military doctrine to be superior to the american in anyway.Originally Posted by MDR-14 Go to original post
FYI:
In Brazilian Military Basic Training (Curso de formação de soldados CFSD)
Soldiers are taught several ways to procure food in emergency situations in every biome inside our country, these are for when logistic lines are cutout
Learn things like, drinking blood of chickens, snakes, eating snakes, eating larvae from coconuts and other fruits, traps to hunt wild animals, where to find water (In some tree vines) or some rivers, we are taught how to set traps for fishes, what kind of plants we can eat when we are really desperate.
But these are not ideal in the long run, our instructors are sure to tell us this, why risking getting a really serious disease, when you have zero necessity to do stupid things?
Humans are food or serve as intermediary hosts for a large number of organisms (bacteria, virus, amoebas, plasmodium, fungi, parasitic worms etc.) numbering well over 1400 known agents . Eating raw meat, especially pork is never recommended as a survival technique and was not mentioned in any of these posts. Look up "tropic scale" and see where humans are to understand where humans truly are in the food chain and note that even survivorman would up with a nasty parasitic worm infestation in his mouth from eating raw turtle.
