I'm honestly confused..
I have almost 800 hours in Wildlands. Hated it when it first came out because the AI was dead on arrival. But Ubisoft stuck with it and turned it into a very good tactical shooter. especially playing Ghost Mode on extreme. But with most of its initial failings ironed out I figured Breakpoint would be fantastic. Instead Breakpoint seems to have abandoned everything they learned from Wildlands. I can't even get this game to LOOK as good as Wildlands. Its either a blurry mess or pixellated nightmare depending whether I turn Antiliasing off or on. There are some aspects that look slightly better but its completely irrelevant when you cant make out guys past 150 meters. Random loot boxes. Sci-fi fantasy drone swarms. Broken stealth. Arcade flight model. Classes. I mean.. WTF Ubi! Is this The Division now?
The best part about Wildlands was it was a living world. You had civilians, Cartel, Unidad, Rebels..all trying to function in the same space. Fights would break out that you didn't start. Rebels would jump into a fight to help you out. Civilians would scramble for cover as the lead started flying. The world seemed to move despite you being in it. Not so in Breakpoint. At least from what I've seen. Rebels are instanced now and not a part of the same world as the sci-fi guys. There doesn't seem to be any living world traffic. Outside of static NPC's and sci-fi guys the map just feels empty.
Maybe I haven't seen enough of the game enough yet to see all the good stuff but I have seen enough to make me postpone buying this until the reviews are in. Such a shame too. They had everything ironed out and chose to start over. Mind-blowing..
