    Wildlands, then & now

How come everyone is seemingly full of praise for GR Wildlands ? it had exactly the same response that Breakpoint is currently getting, endless moaning & complaining, not a proper Ghost recon game never buying another Ubisoft game, I want a refund etc. etc.
    ,
The point of my post being is that the game needs time, it has faults for sure but so did Wildlands but it ended up very playable indeed did it not?

    Hey

I can't speak for others but...if I were to guess I'd say the difference is Wildlands even at first was more resemblance of what Ghost Recon is all about versus what Breakpoint is and has become. Maybe in time but a lot of chatter, confusion, griping, complaining, praise to outrage revolves around this is a Beta with four weeks out; not 2-3 months.

Big difference between GRW and GRB is the amount of bugs still in the game, with GRW it was nice gameplay but not that many bugs, and with GRB it has alot of bugs and it has RPG like game features for example gear, weapons and levels which isnt normal in a GR tactical shooter, and besides that i dont mind it but i do mind the huge list of bugs still in the game and most where already in it in the Alpha tests i played.

And now that this Beta is kinda the same as for release, they cant fix any major game mechanics and i wonder if they can fix the huge list of bugs in this game before the release for example, falling thro world will laying down, getting stuck while gliding down a slope, not being able to shoot or do anything when trying to use the AOE scan launcher thingie, broken aim (not hitting the crosshair but all over the place) after getting killed and get back up are a few bugs i came across but are alot more

I recall Wildlands wasn’t really over all it’s initial hurdles until about its first birthday. But people got engaged with it and stuck with it. It may be accused of straying from the GR formula, but honestly no one can agree with what that GR formula is. The previous games were linear and constrained. Is that what defines GR? I don’t think so. I think it’s a multitude of things... squad based, Tier 1 operators, with full tactical gear at their disposal as a force multiplier using stealth and other squad based tactics to accomplish real-world military and anti-terrorist operations. Wildlands fit that perfectly.

My concern with Breakpoint is that it’s more of a Far Cry lone survivor crafting type of story, with a heavy emphasis on loot shooter mechanics, trying to be a GR game. There’s no squad. There’s no choice of tactical gear (initially). There’s no real world setting or military type of operation... it’s all fictitious and very sci-fi.

Breakpoint is suffering from an identity crisis in terms of what type of game it’s trying to be. Forget the title, for a moment... is it a Far Cry game with a different brand of character? Is it a Division game on an island? Is it a GR game without a squad and full tactical gear? I guess it is what you want it to be. But is it compelling? Will people stick with it for a year until the patch all the issues.

I’m concerned this game is complicated to manage, from a gear, items, perks, levels, and crafting perspective... and they’ve spread themselves too thin, doing nothing particularly well, especially the all important gunsmith.

I fear it will not engage and hold many people deep enough to survive past the holiday season and never realize it’s full potential.

The people complaining about Breakpoint are the people that loved Wildlands. They just aren't the same people as you are describing. Do you see any of those specific people who complained about Wildlands here praising it now? Probably not.

I doubt that in time the core design choices that people are complaining about will magically go away. A year from now it will still be the Looter Shooter a lot of people didn't want.

    I praise it for Sure!

Yeah it has Bugs, what which Game doesnt today...
Immersion Animations and the feel of the Game is much better than Wildlands. Its a better Wildlands in every regard. Bulletdrop is Overhauled, seems much nicer now. Bullets are a tiny bit faster at least.
    Stealth rocks now!

There is super dope Animations like when trying to get through deep mud your character really has to bring up his legs to get through, sneezing your Nose makes me laugh, Customizations seem better. Not the stuff you have literally, that could be better. But in Wildlands it was the same, was it not! We will get all the nice Cosmetics later on.. which yeah, goes both ways i guess...

    But about Identity, well.
Its tough to do it right. I was totally against Drones first, but it is the Future for sure in Military Tech. Also its super fun to fight the bigger Drones for sure. So im fine, i have to.

Look if Ubi would have made a more Realistic Scenario like they did in Wildlands, there would have been a ****storm again. Ohh this poor Bolivians etc, etc. We all know theres Drugs in South America, theres Drugs and **** everywhere in the World and Worse. So i feel its okay! Theres always someone that doesnt like it, or something in the Game!

About Loot Shooter, yeah maybe but Light Version for sure. U can still play with Vanilla Guns and have Fun. At least on easier Regions. The Loot we had in Wildlands aswell. Yes, not different Colors okay, but it makes you play the Game that much longer. It needs to be done right i agree!

BUt what would you Guys like to have seen in Breakpoint?
Fictional regime on a Fictional Island
    or
Real regime on a real Island or Country?

    Whats the difference?

You go there **** everyone up and have a good time.

We have the same as Wildlands, just no Drug Cartell. We have Drones as a Cherry on a Cream Topping. We have standard Military/ PMC, we have Wolves which were kind of in Wildlands, with High Tech Gear SpecOps from the DLC and we have the Drones aswell! Dont know why u complain!

Go cash your troll check and stop trying to defend this mess! Real, true fans will never play this game because of the level system, which is unrealistic, horrible user interface and the list goes on and on. And for the record, if Wildlands was such a bad game then how on earth did it become one of the best selling games??

C'mon mate. I get it you are disapointed, but please... Lets keep it sivilized. Wildlands was a sucess yes, but if you like me, read through the beta forums for WL, you should have been some what surprised it became that sucessfull. There were even guys saying the exact same thing as you. If you dont like it, too bad for you (Not in a patronizing way, but I do feel your disapointment). And let us that is having a blast, have a blast. True fan or not.
