I've created this thread for those who are wondering how to do something within the game.

I've been wanting to take a drink of water from the canteen while not at a bivouac site. I select the canteen, but the text is red and I can't have Nomad drink. Is there a secret to doing this? Like not being in an enemy area? --Thx

You prob dont have any water in them, they must be full to drink them, If they are full then its most likely a bug.

The canteen must be equipped in the bottom row of the equipable items (the consumables), then cycle to the canteen like it was a grenade and Press G like its a grenade to drink. When in clean water (also dirty if you've unlocked water filter) Press E (or other indicated button) to refill the canteen.

I struggled with this as well.

First,make sure your canteen is filled with water, as mentioned above.

When you run out of stamina and are exhausted it reduces your max stamina. Your max stamina will gradually reduce each time you do this. You can still sprint etc..but the duration will be shorter.

This is what the game refers to as fatigue.

So if you've never exhausted yourself your max stamina will still be at maximum and you won't be able to drink from the canteen.

Only when your max stamina is reduced will you be able to drink from the canteen and restore this.

Its a very light exhaustion system so more often than not I never need to drink because I always stop sprinting before I'm exhausted.

I figured it out. I rescued some woman from the bad guys, flew her to where she was to go. Went into a cabin and got a few things. Selected the canteen and the text wasn't red, so I was able to have Nomad drink. And, after he was done, he took some water pouches off a table.

Remember, this thread just wasn't about drinking from the canteen. It could be anything. Like I saw one person asked how to defeat the drone swarm. The response is you can't. I hadn't encountered them before, until later today. Yeah, they are a *****.

If anyone has figured out how to defeat them, I hope they post here.

I tried flying the helo as high as I can go. They spawn above me, so the thought of flying over them didn't work.

Same as the sniper: when you're in scope view, hold space.

If you play on console, you release the left trigger slowly to about half way, that triggers the breath control (no pun intended), took me a ehile to figure that one lol
