Windows cannot access the specified device path or file (Windows 10 Insider)

Same error I get when trying to play The Crew 2:

I know, Windows Insider builds aren't formally supported and all that, but Wildlands works.

Windows Build 18970.1005 if it makes a difference

    Hey guys,

This is an issue that can occur on Insider builds of Windows when playing games with BattlEye, as it happens on Rainbow Six: Siege as well.

As you mention we do not officially support preview builds of Windows, as you can run into issue such as this. Generally the only way around this would be to roll back to a release version of Windows.

I have the same issue with Windows 10 Insider and BattlEye. I took part of the Alpha Test using Windows 10 Insider without issue. Beta will not run.

Yeah, same problem. Division 2 running fine. Ghost recon running fine. even Alpha test Breakpoint running fine. It's basically the BattlEye program is not up to date.

Same issue. Stupid anti-cheat software. Should have an option to disable it even if it limits you to playing offline.

Sorry, but get the anti-cheat software up to date." as it is not"

this statement you just said, the only way around this would be to roll back to a release version of Windows.= reinstalling hole computer. Just because of LASY anti-cheat developers not up to date.

Same as for Easy anti-cheat engine developers flag ASUS lightning service.exe as a cheat ??

I can't rollback my insider build because "you updated more than 10 days ago". Only option is to reinstall Windows 10. That's not an easy or simple option for me (and I imagine same for others).

I am interested in the single player offline mode - pity there isn't a way to play offline and disable the use of Battleye (as another poster suggested).

At some point I'll get around to wasting a few hours reinstalling Windows, but it looks like I've wasted my Beta test time and there's no point buying the game until this issue is fixed (or I reinstall Windows).

Here is the evidence on battleye devs not up to date.

There has been an issue with older versions of anti-cheat software used with games where after updating to the latest 19H1 Insider Preview builds may cause PCs to experience crashes. We are working with partners on getting their software updated with a fix, and most games have released patches to prevent PCs from experiencing this issue. To minimize the chance of running into this issue, please make sure you are running the latest version of your games before attempting to update the operating system. We are also working with anti-cheat and game developers to resolve similar issues that may arise with the 20H1 Insider Preview builds and will work to minimize the likelihood of these issues in the future.
